I don't know much about the current production run, but I remember that when the Gen 2 SUB2000 first came out, the front sight would fall off if you shot it too much. The S&W was created only to have the common sense of not having to remove the red dot every time you want to fold the gun.

I have both, SW is heavier but more sturdy, sub200 has more recoil but lighter....neither have had a single malfuction after 1500 rounds.

I got a buffer tube sleeve, charging handle sleeve, and recoil absorber plug all from mcarbo for my sub2000 which halves the recoil and I now keep that in my backpack....if it gets stolen who cares since even with mods its sub 450 in price.
Anonymous No.64135936
>>64132556 (OP)
I think the FPC is just objectively superior. I'm interested in getting an S&W because it's mag compatible with my Shield. Also the Sub2000 doesn't fold if you have an optic, or at least one of the models can't do that. I've only fired that one and it's cheaper, but you know, I'd go with the FPC.

If you want one that can do anything as a SHTF go for the 10mm FPC. 10mm will even kill a bear. However, that is assuming you have your own supply of 10mm, it's not common, you won't find any laying around.

If you want something that you'll find the most ammo possibly do the FPC 9mm. Less powerful than the 10mm (10mm is MUCH more powerful than 9mm despite sounding almost the same, 9v10, just look up some vids on it) Less powerful, but you'll find more ammo

If you want something to have the easiest to find ammo, and are worried about mags go with the sub2000. It takes glock mags so many random guns you find you can just throw the magazine into the sub2000. The FPC while it feels better to shoot will be harder to find extra magazines for.

also side note, but as long as you get a gen3 sub2000 they're actually pretty decent, though not quite the quality of the FPC. I would not get a gen2, they have lots of issues. They did pretty good with the new model though I admit even though I am partial to S&W generally.

Trump's "big beautiful bill" tried to completely remove the NFA but failed. However, it did keep one thing. Starting Jan 1, 2026 there is no longer any fee to get the tax stamp. SBRs, silencers, etc... All free as long as you can pass the paperwork portion starting Jan 1 next year.

i got a M&P carry in 9mm, so mag compatibility is preferred
i do however have a 10mm glock too, so the new 10mm sub2k still fits though
i'm not looking for a shtf type gun however, i've already got a cz scorpion but its only a 4" barrel, and i just want something with a long barrel to kill the sound a bit
>>64140656
i'm still waiting on it, right now i'd rather buy optics than a whisper pickle i'd rarely use
thats also besides the fact that 5.56 out a suppressor is loud as fuck, especially out a short barrel
they keep fucking coming out with new shit too, so its like "do i get this? do i get that? direct thread? but this new hub? what the fuck?"

From your specifications it sounds like you are deciding between:

FPC 9mm which you have mag compatibility with

Sub2000 10mm which you have mag compatibility with.

You mentioned plinking. The 10mm is going to be significantly more expensive to plink with. Quick ammoseek shows ~19.9 cents per round vs ~35.8 cents a round (for well known reliable companies)

As long as you get a gen3 sub2000 it will be reliable, although from what people say the FPC still "feels" better and higher quality. If a 9mm can handle the things you need this gun for I'd go for the FPC. If you might need to put down bigger threats and are more comfortable with a 10mm instead I'd go with the sub2000 (gen3!)

>>64132556 (OP)
Get the sub-2000 because it folds up smaller and is lighter which is the whole point. Importantly the sub-2000 also takes glock mags so you can get cheap reliable 33 round stick mags or drums if you want them and not some gay 23 round mag that you’ll never be able to find. Unless you have a S&W pistol that shares mags with the FPC the Sub-2000 is better.

Unless the GOA lawsuit goes through, no one gives a shit. $200 one time fee on a durable good is nothing, especially given inflation, but submitting fingerprints and shit is onerous. I’d gladly pay $200 if the Form 4 and Form 1 processes were the same as they were 15 years ago and I could use my trust to avoid the fingerprint card again. Obviously abolishment is the best NFA change to wish for, but the money was the least bullshit part of the process and I don’t care if they change that part, I’m still done buying NFA items until the process is less onerous.

The CMMG Banshee isn't an AR9. The AR9 uses straight blowback.

100% the FPC if the sub2k isn't the new gen3 model.

The new gen3 model of the sub2k fixes all the issues. It's now a perfectly fine gun. At this point it basically boils down to do you want glock mag compatibility (sub2k) or S&W mag compatibility and 2 extra mags in the shoulder brace (fpc)

Both are fine guns. But if you get the sub2k ensure it's a gen3 model before you buy it.

Okay? You can buy just the bolt and barrel.

Obviously. It's a 9 millimeter/.45 ACP AR with a reduced recoil impulse compared to straight blowback. It's valid to mention.

It's really not, though. The AR9 is a system that uses straight blow back. That's why it has high felt recoil. It's why people say that. You can't just say people are talking about the Banshee when they're talking about the AR9. That's disingenuous and misleading.

I never implicity or by implication did. Or meant to.
I meant that you can buy the bolt and barrel and upgrade your AR9 if the issue is bothersome enough, at significant cost though. It would be nice if more manufacturers offered similair fixes. AR parts are dirt cheap, maximizing a PCC form should be a win win.

That's actually pretty cool, to be honest. I figured the CMMG bolt would be proprietary in some way. Or that it wouldn't play with the buffer. Thanks for pointing this out.

They even claim running suppressed just needs a different buffer weight. Would be cat's PJs with an SS.

It seems like the bolt would be patented but a 9mm or .45 standard AR barrel with standard lugs should be a free design. You need someone to think that making one for a proprietary bolt at reduced profit would be worth investing in though.

Any idea where you can cop short barrels? Might do a build if the NFA gets abolished in 5 years.
