at least all that are gun autists, i was just rewatching his FAQ vids and it feels odd to see the guy that was so fit for his age and so knowledgeable knowing he is already dead
i wonder if he was ignoring cancer symptoms or was the cancer asymptomatic and it only showed up when it was terminal

You just accept there are things you can't change and move on with your life. I know it's hard. I've got two brothers that are like that. They didn't even show up to our father's funeral out of spite.

Just found out today that the cool old dude who taught me to wrench on cars died of heart failure a few days ago.
The health of my parents is rapidly declining.
The best dog I ever had got terminally ill and had to be put down a few weeks ago. I'm still deeply sad about that, little buddy always cheered me up when I was feeling down.
My once very sweet sister went off the rails and is currently ruining her life with hard drugs, had to block her from calling me to schizo rant and beg for money.

I think Roy should leave the original Paul Harrell channel intact as an archive, and just start a second channel with his own content. I didn't like some of the earlier videos from Roy, especially trying to sell dvds and merch on Paul's channel seemed a bit out of touch.

Recently though I think Roy is finding his stride with his newer content focusing on prepping and survival, emergency and TEOTWAWKI stuff rather than strictly firearm content, I like that a lot too, good stuff to think about. Having his own channel seems both respectful to Paul's legacy while giving Roy the freedom to make whatever kind of content he wants.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Paul was an incredibly genuine and serious man, which is why he stood out in the guntubing sphere, a space rife with idiots and charlatans. Few people do his kind of practical tests and demonstrations, and even fewer with his dedication or honestly, this was along with his genuine real world practical qualifications.

Paul was a guy who wasn't just an infantryman in a war, and wasn't just an experienced hunter and awarded sport shooter, he was someone who had been forced to kill to defend himself and others in civilian life on two separate occasions, which really gives a special bit of extra experience for someone who tries to give advice on carry and defensive gun usage.
Add being reasonably humble about his qualifications, not treating his viewer as an idiot, and having a knack for making a good presentation with some good dry wit.

He said that one of the key goals of his channel was to try to help people avoid wasting their money on something they just didn't need, and that if just some of his viewers saved a few hundred dollars here or there, then he considered that goal accomplished.

Somewhat related, but, its weird to think that the second leading cause of lung cancer is mere radon gas exposure. I personally didn't even think about it until I finally got around to testing my house and holy shit was it high. Even mostly furnished basements can still have it leak all across the board. 10 years of exposure. Here's hoping it doesn't have any long term effects.

Start putting things in ammo cans. Spraypaint, enamel/Testor's paint (incl. nail polish), spray foam, oils, you name it. Basically if it has solvents or comes in a spray can put it in an ammo can. The big but short 40mm ones if you can (fits about 8-10 cans of spraypaint almost perfect), otherwise Fat 50s might work. Let it sit a couple days. Open it and give a sniff. Smells like a fucking open can of paint. Especially the enamel paint/nail polish. Some of it is just the residual drip and spray on the can when you're done using it but the little enamel paints leak solvent even when just sat closed for extended periods of time.

Less is more, most would say. If your home is constantly spiking upwards of 100Bq or more, then you'll need to have the home remedied with an active mitigation system. No level is technically safe. However, if you can bring it down to levels close to 100Bq or less than that would still be a vast improvement. The biggest problem with radon exposure is how long you stay in it. Being in a home that has moderate or less (400Bq) radon gas can potentially take decades for anything to show. Still, one should remedy the problem if one has the ability to do so. The active mitigation system is a one time install and you only need to replace its fan potentially every 10 years or so. My current reading, after installing an active mitigation system, is between 11 and 18Bq; the same concentration levels as being outside. I don't think i've ever seen my basement spike more than 35Bq after the install. Although it certainly helps that my home is sitting on top of gravel.

Oh shit. I forgot to mention an important issue that can sometimes (usually most of the time) come up with radon gas. Even if radon is mostly concentrated in the basement, it can have the potential of traveling upwards into higher levels of the home. That air conditioning system you have can pull it further up the house, and even simply opening a window on the top floor can cause a reverse chimney effect. If you see a reading of 140Bq down in the basement, chances are you'll see a reduced amount upstairs as well. I know I was affected, because the readings upstairs was 90Bq.

Damn that guy was cool but theoretically I'm really angry about spears right now. I get if you can't chop through a water bottle holding a knife in your hand but if you put it on a stick and call it a spear you should get extra leverage and it'll cut better but people only say it stabs. Fuckin' this guy really tried to figure that shit out. In otherways, but everyone we'll will be a retard about the most basic things possible. I mean I haven't been shot through a wall or by a sniper from he's up in heaven saying 500 yards is possible from a 556

I think I might have some prostate problems too. I have to piss so frequently and I am sick of it. Even if I can heal, I still just want to die and kill many people... Wisdom from Pual Harel [? might translate name incorrectly]: 410, five pellet backshot(? says 'bokshot'): overpenetration, no spread, moderate damage (seven yards). 410. Birdshot [small numbers]. At life yeards: wider grouping, more what I want, but most stopped in the ribs and did minimal damage. Zero penetration. I want some penetration with my shotgun, but mostly good spread and max damage! I don't feel bad for victims of attacks at all. It will always happen. It could be me, it could be you, it could be my mother or your daughter, I don't care, somehow...

You've convinced me to go buy a radon detector. I had a test done by a home inspector when I bought my home, but the inspector said that it looked like the detector was moved when he came to collect the results. The results reported seemed fine minus that caveat, but I didn't think much about it since I had so much else on my plate at the time.

You got me thinking that best case I get some extra peace of mind and worst case I know that there's a problem that needs remediation.

I think I had the same thing happen to my home. Either way, testings done by a home inspector probably won't be too reliable. Radon fluctuates throughout the day, season and based off weather conditions. That number I posted doesn't happen all that often, but, it was seeping from unfinished rooms, and it was occurring more than anyone would prefer. Radon detectors cost nothing and they run constantly in the background, so I think everyone with a basement should have one.

Your 20s and 30s suck like this. It's the time where the older men and women in your life get to that age bracket where shit can just take them out. It's a cruel aspect of life where right when you need their love and guidance the most, they leave this world. I hate watching my parents age, slowly break down, slow down. Shit stops working properly. It hurts, but I don't have the time or energy to devote brainpower to even think about it, so when God finally sees fit to bring them home, I won't have had time to mentally prep. It'll just hit me. Then what?

I remember being at my great aunt’s funeral and having some really bad breakdown. I thought about the high possibility of me dying childless and how, if so, that would mean my whole life would be nothing but a series of funerals followed by one last funeral that is attended by no one. Heartbreak after heartbreak, watching people I love slowly disappear from my life one by one until all I have left you retards, and a casket with no one to cry to it as it gets chucked into the ground. But I can’t think about shit like that. Life sucks and people you love die, bitching about it accomplishes nothing, ignoring it or pretending it isn’t there won’t help you either, the best you can do is just chase life’s simple pleasures with the time you’re allotted. For me it’s eating Little Caesar’s, shooting guns, playing videogames, and of course spending time with what’s left of my family
