In a lot of ways the show did not care about what made the lore good. I am not sure exactly what made the lore good but it was a potent tincture brewed in the mind of grrm for like a decade or two. Is the riverlands the most interesting place in a song of ice or fire or incredibly boring gotta move out of the riverlands the blackfish is the only tully that has a good story or two I am not sure it depends if the book is a feast for crows or one of the lesser tomes instead.

Having dragons, and Sothoryos being a BIG JUNGLE, why not set everything on fire? The ashes fertilize the soil after the massive fire, and you can make colonies there to mine gold, gems, or whatever you want, and grow whatever you want in the fertile land. Assuming dragonfire doesn't disintegrate the cursed OILY BLACK ROCK cities (oil burns, by the way), then avoid them, or practice your albino blood magic against the cities or whatever you want.

Sothoryos was the continent to their south, quite close to Valyria, where no one lived (if people did, they didn't have complex societies that formed kingdoms or political entities). A virgin land with resources, and they left it there.

I've been thinking of this idea I think I saw somewhere ages ago.

Corractamundo, however this is a result of the peace treaty between the Children and FM. Before that, we know the FM were ruthless in their conquest of the land from it's original inhabitants. This matches quite well with the DROWNED GOD.
Basically, I think the Drowned God is the original FM faith, which was only retained by the Ironborn. Whether due to geographical isolation, or what have you. Altough his association with the sea itself might've only been established after they settlend the islands since the FM were not a naval people to begin with.
Also Theon being named the same way as a Stark has two explanations in my mind;

To get back on topic, the Greens are married into the Hightowers who are the biggest single defenders of Andal culture since Oldtown hosts both the Faith of the Seven and the Maesters. So that's why the Greens are portrayed as unpleasant whereas Daemon who is also an asshole is always portrayed with a roguish air (or GRRM tries that and lands somewhere closer to Darkstar territory.).

You can see this pattern play out elsewhere. Septons are frequently idiots or pathetic with very few exceptions. Even Septon Barth who was an amazing hand of the king was a Talleyrand tier atheist Septon. Meribald is basically the only sympathetic Septon in the entire series.

My personal opinion is that the Ironborn are also first men, but to contradict you with book evidence; Greyjoys trace their history back to before the Andal invasion and are therefore a first man house.

-the Faith's judicial authority is removed

All these concessions and the faith get fucking nothing except the Targs promising to protect a church that they've just castrated.

Then Daeron I invades Dorne with a giant army and conclusively beats them in the field. "Oh 60 thousand people die" he defeats the Dornish decisively. Then he gets assassinated during a peace negotiation

It should be noted that every other fucking time one of these underhanded assassinations happen the guys who did it always get their comeuppance. Dorne are hardly victims anyway, they're Ironborn tier reavers just over land instead of sea and have GRRM protection whereas the Ironborn get their ass kicked every single time they show up

But instead the guy who becomes king is Baelor who walks 300 miles to beg forgiveness etc and then the Dornish - seeing the writing on the wall - are able to marry into the royal family and become a Great House and receive zero punishment for fucking murdering a sitting king at a *peace negotiation*.

Oh and because he's faith of the Seven related Baelor is portrayed as a complete retard and insane and then after being absolutely peaceful to a retarded degree his entire life is said to have been murdered because he was about to embark on a crusade but people don't care because he was an idiot.

Then the Dornish marry into the royal family again sparkling the Blackfyre Rebellion, pitting all the people GRRM likes (Targ/Dornish/First men houses) against a basically solely Andal alliance with the exception of Daemon himself so ofc we know who loses

Even going right up to the current setting, Aerys is eventually so evil that he kicks off a massive rebellion against him and for once, the mostly Andal (and First men) alliance of the Vale/Riverlands/North/Stormlands beats the Reach/Dorne/Targs squad and Robert is even able to kill a pretty boy Targ in single combat

Except then all the reveals are - the first man lady Lyanna actually wanted the Targ Rhaegar, she didn't want to marry Robert, every character sucks off Rhaegar afterwards and talks about what an amazing king he would have been (if he didn't die in the cause of his fucking insane father and eloping with a Great House lady while already married).
