This has no source material and literally most Sentai seasons are episodic.
The problem is the execution of these episodes since the focus between the characters is disproportionate and the No One monsters' rules are really arbitrary so everything ends up being resolved with a fight. While one could argue it's because they are AI generated monsters so they deviate from the rules or humans can override their rules it still ends up feeling awkward.

Maybe so, but it looks like they're just playing a game of basketball or something when the new guy just got introduced, like do they have nothing better to do? Is there no urgency? They can't just keep doing the formula of a No-one showing up and wanting to be number one at something pointless then one of the team members beats it and becomes number one at whatever they were doing. If this season is supposed to be character driven Inoue isn't doing a great job of showing it. I'm getting less interested as the show goes on, I know it's only the sixteenth episode but I want to see something interesting happen with the universe warriors and how they're going to end up collecting all the rings.

He's reminding me of Jeramie, in that he'll soon realize his dream isn't as simple as he thinks he is and it'll lead to him being humbled.
I do also like the inversion of the ring warrior and robot relationship here. Tega Sword chose Hoeru despite him not having a dream, and encouraged Hoeru to broaden his horizons, experiencing more of the world to find his dream. Now we have Kumade taking Goode Burn under his wing to show him the world, and allow him to decide who he wants to be.

Well my theory the first Universe War was Episode Zero with the Zeon like Mecha. The second Universe War is the one Mashiro participated in, fighting the Darkness. This is the second rebooted Universe.

I don't know, he didn't actually make much of an impression on me. He's cocky and conceited, but so are the core five, to some degree. From the episode preview it seems like he'll already be working together with the team already, maybe under the general dynamic of "allies until everyone else is dealt with." Good actor but I can't say I care much for the character for now until we get some development episodes.

You know, not complaining about filler, but I was hoping the staff could see the Number 1 competitions weren't working and used the reboot to dump them after q1, like Zi-O dumping the stuff about needing to beat the Another Riders in the past (which just led to all fights in the present feeling pointless... while also making the final battles underwhelming since they often had been defeated before).

They could keep the number 1 theme going by having the monsters keep a number 1 theme and beating them in battle would take it from them. But they're still keeping the competitions... which just lead to the battles where that happens anyway.

Tegasword mentioned that the world could return to normal, but only Tegaknux/Goodeburn has the power to do so. even Hoeru's plan was to try and tame him.

notice how right after Mashiro did befriended Goode the gozyuger's appeared, and Sumino pointed out 'returning back to normal? what are you talking about?'. the moment Goode was tamed, the world, and the Gozyugers returned to normal.

the issue here was not clarifying thats what happened with a flash or something. im sure a little shot of that corpo/motel changing back into the tegasword cafe with a flash transition could have been easy to do. or maybe that was explained in those special shorts.
