Build a mecha or vehicle that uses long-range heavy-weapons such as Cannons, Missiles/Rockets, Railguns, or any other type of siege weaponry. Some clarifying rules

Any tips on building the Crossframe GaoGaiGar girl from Kotobukiya? I've only built one figure-rise before and had to apply water decals, no idea what experience I'm in for this time.

I did give some thought to the blood distribution. Minor blood splatter across the front side just from normal laserjagd operations. Additionally, this is also Anett's (Schwarzes-06) and she's the only Schwarzesmarken who uses a combat blade, so the overall amount of blood would go a step further. For obvious reasons, the sword arm and the sword itself are by far the parts with the heaviest amount of blood and the other arm is relatively spared from heavy spray by the shield. There's a very light amount on the back side as well since the guns can be fired towards the rear when on the mount pylons but I didn't take any pictures from that side. Of course, this is all just what I was aiming for and since I can only control the volume and direction, the splatters are otherwise more or less random

One of them was stocking shelves with a regular staff guy I saw several times, overheard that they both barely know anything about gundams or mechas in general, the zoomer was like "FUCK NO" when asked if he wanted to work as a plastic model seller, said he wanted an internship in finance but couldn't find one. Barely helped with boxes, was standing in the way and asked if he could go buy a drink even before starting. When i think about it the other guy always had to check the database when i asked him anything.

I think that some aspects of the designs are pretty great. Gquuuuux's feet are awesome and I like that folding arm joint (even if it would realistically be basically not functional). The exposed canisters on it and the notGM are cool too. The roll bar-type things as reinforcements(notGM booster, rx-78 chest cage and arms). Tripod dom with the retractable leg is pretty novel, lance gyan feels like a reasonable evolution of the original. What I don't like is how some of them are a little overly lanky, the rx-78 was hit the hardest, where it sort of just has the body type of someone who is like 6'5 and 120lbs. The rx-78 and gqx heads are really bad. Gfred's colors are kind of obnoxious, although I understand that the absurd color scheme is following the precedent set by the original gundam's r/b/y scheme as a "prototype". The zaku balls are kind of bad and make the design really busy in the lower-mid region, it only really balances out on the variant with the large booster. There's a lot more going on in gquuuuuux than most of the AUs honestly.

A bit pricey for something you could make with a few bottles of paint and an airbrush.

i actually recently got a HG perfect strike freedom and i'm in the middle of making it actually perfect by giving in the knives, beam sabers, beam rifle, beam boomerang, plasma cannons and belly cannon that it's missing from the strike, freedom and strike freedom loadouts
luckily it came with the parts needed to mount the railguns and beam sabers on the side skirts like in the normal strike freedom so i won't have to do much modifications

If you're new to the hobby, don't think too much about P-Bandai yet. It's quasi-exclusive, but the US has a P-Bandai store so it's not like any of that shit is permanently out of your reach, it's just a matter of patience and waiting for what you want to show up (and buying multiple kits per month to spread out the shipping charges).

The kit availability in Japan is significantly better and cheaper than in the US, but at the end of the day there isn't really much you can buy in Japan that you can't buy in the US, just pricier. It's the sort of thing you do your research on beforehand and know ahead of time what you want to purchase, which is really hard for someone new to the hobby. As the other anon said, focus on enjoying yourself first and buying the plastic robots second. If you're going to Tokyo, stop by the Gundam Base. If you're going to Fukuoka, stop by Side-F. Shizuoka likely has the best selection if you know how to find the stores.

To reduce the chances of regret, stop by your local Hobby Lobby before you go, to get an idea of what kinds of kits are super plentiful in the US so that you don't end up buying something super common.

I like that its based on the shizuoka statue. A lot of the nubs are tucked away. sanding and buffing them out have been relaxing.

The MG Crossbones are not fine in the slightest. I've built nearly a dozen at this point. It's a bad kit in most ways it's possible to be a bad kit without being total dogshit. The elbows are actually the best part of the whole frame, they might be weak but they allow forearm rotation beneath the elbow which is dramatically better than 90% of even MGs, but the whole frame is generally loose and easily worn down, the part separation and colour correction needed is a bad joke by modern standards, the weapons can barely be held by the hands which aren't even the true old style MG hands so doubly embarrassing, and their cloaks both look awful and are a bigger pain in the ass to attach and pose with than they ever should be.

Tamiya's Dark Iron achieves the same effect. actually gunmetal looks good in satin gloss. it very much looks like the metal you see on actual guns when you apply semi-gloss on top of it. top coats have a huge effect on silver and gold because lacquers tarnish the chrome paint's metallic shine.
