Groupbuilds are only for kits made for the groupbuild during the timeframe. The whole point is to encourage making models, not to post old work fitting the theme.

What are the best kits of all time in your opinion? People seem to really like the MGEX Strike Freedom. For HG, I really like the Asshimar and the Schwarzette.

HG Reben Wolf is the most impressed I have been with an HG since Moon or Galbaldy Beta. MG ZZ Ka, Alex 2.0, Mark V all come to mind as exceptionally good models I'd recommend anyone own for MGs.

It is, as far as a rendition of ZZ gets, basically perfect. It is completely stable with every bit of articulation it could have despite the transformation features. I really love the ZZ in general so I am biased, but I don't think it could be made meaningfully much better while remaining fairly true to the anime design.

Building my first PG (Exia). Even with the wiring for the LEDs it seems easier than a number of RGs that I've done purely because the pieces are larger. Only finished the frame so far for reference.

It was more or less just a one off I did because I love her. Missed a seam on the shin, ball joints had all their paint chipped, colors too flat, flubbed the pattern decals. If I find myself doing another girlpla I have an idea of where to aim to improve but I can't imagine doing it any time soon.
Maybe instead of including that, I'll stencil in the URA logo on the base and maybe a teio meme face or something. By not including the figure-rise and only the gunpla, I can still hit their pseudo-GBWC categort. I'll think on it more today but my motivation is far higher for this

The only way you're not going to get ripped off second hand is if you fly to Japan and physically buy them from second-hand hobby shops there. And even then you'll pay a lot more than they paid for it, because guess what they want to make a profit too. Like, if you take advantage of free shipping at Surugaya you might make it out without paying an arm and a leg, but ultimately it'll still cost roughly the same as US P-Bandai if not more, you just don't have to wait months for it to show up.

The problem is that Bandai tends to price their P-Bandai shit around what they set for MSRP for similar kits, and thanks to how dogshit the Japanese economy is they're raising prices across the board and hitting gaijin with double that just because they can control exclusivity in that department. That HG Leo with extra parts you're paying $23 for on P-Bandai, it's not going go get any cheaper because the base HG Leo goes for around $15 unless you can snag it at Hobby Lobby. There's also other things to consider like inflation and tariffs, but the price hikes due to the economy are a big one.

It's not exactly the same, but when I was in the UK a few months ago I bought some 40K stuff because the MSRP price was leagues better than what's in the US (49 pounds for a box of Armigers (like $66 USD) vs $95 for the US MSRP). Again, not exactly the same since that's more related to GW kikery and them only having factories in the UK but I doubt you'd have much difference in cost if you're buying in Japan and mailing them back to you. You're better off leaving space in your suitcase for that.

I just reworked this kit a few months ago. Out of the box the thing is pretty floppy so you'll have to address that. I put in new polycaps but it wasn't enough and I had to take it apart again to add thicker parts. The nub marks are hard to hide as well since it's all plated. For the most part the seams aren't terrible. The kit is missing a lot of details you'll want to paint in as well.

It's certainly a fine kit but a few pieces have no reason to not be properly colour separated, and the shield's attachment point is fucking awful, and the shotrifle can't be held that well by it, but all that aside it's a nice mold and I like it. It's just coarse enough to fill in very small imperfections so it's also coarse enough to fill in layer lines. Sometimes I need to do a second application and more sanding though. It also sands way easier than super glue and requires less sanding overall since it leaves a flat surface.

The vernier/vents at the bottom of the front skirt, crotch and rear skirt should be yellow, and honestly are large enough they should have been individual parts just like the shoulder vernier. It's not a huge deal, but just stand it side by side with HG Sinanju which does have basically all its vents properly colour separated. Technically all the thrusters should have yellow inserts too but I'm not going to hold that against it or expect it to really be the norm for an HG kit ever. It's not the end of the world or anything but they clearly could've done it then. The shotrifle/wrist joint/forearm design don't work very well together and cause the gun to be angled instead of in-line in various holding grips and the shield could really use a slide attachment to all for more dynamic posing.
