There was a previous thread many years ago that mentioned the German op for this and I don’t remember a lot but I think the lyrics were incredibly obscene or some shit idk

if I'm understanding this, the germans reused the Italian made intro melody for Mazinger and used it for Grendizer?

unironically, i like the Maskman OP and ED in flip language than the original JP audio, cause the flip localized it to a more good vs evil theme song

Watched this a bunch on German satellite when I got it in the 90s, and saw it recently on Twitch. Surprised the fricking astounding soundtrack was entirely German-made, even the Japanese uses a different one. Given god damned Yuji Ohno was behind the Japanese version it's impressive how Christian Bruhn's stacks up.

Two versions of a classic. First the Mexican, then the Spanish. Same language, different translations, one more poetic, one more epic, both fucking awesome.

there's tons of mecha that were translated to arabic, you don't see people from there talk about it beyond grendizer and lost universe because otaku/nerd culture is near non-existent in arab speaking regions and seen as repulsive

Are you an arab yourself? I've spoken to lots of them and they love anime.

The only mecha-related stuff I remember we got here was Transformers, and even this only has the opening speech dubbed.

That's not true. My parents always watch 70s anime on streaming sites. Detective Conan and Hunter x Hunter was a unavoidable juggernaut through the 90s and 00s.

What you're confusing for hate is the fact commentators on anime's foreign influence only ever bring up Italy/France and maybe Latam, when anime had always been a major influence in MENA.

In Argentina (South America) at least back then a lot of adults had seen Heidi or Kimba or Astroboy in the 70s, and in the 80s there were quite a few other anime on TV, so it's not as if people didn't know about anime. But in the early 90s if you were in your teens, after prepubescence, and you still watched anime it was considered weird and childish. Those who did watch an anime or two (usually Dragon Ball and Saint Seiya) didn't want to admit it to the others fearing they would be mocked, and those who were really into it and watched everything they could would usually be considered geeks.
