Waterslides can be applied with simple tweezers, and moved into place with any properly-sized soft-tipped manipulator (such as a q-tip or your finger) after placing on the surface of the piece. You don't need a vice for painting, just hold onto the part with an alligator clip and hold onto the alligator clip with your hand.

There's a few that's good but after around 2010 they started getting awful and the only reason I can guess is because Katoki has got so much influence in Bandai now that no one can tell him no so you get things like shitty kits that can't pose or have massive defects in their constructions. That's also not mentioning the overly long legs.

Wing Zero, ZZ/FAZZ, Zeta, and Narrative ver Kas were all some of the best Bandai has to offer. Zeta particularly was a marvel of engineering that they replicated the lineart proportions while mastering the transformation gimmick. He didnt change the design much with that.

I will NEVER forgive Bandai for making it only a 1.5 instead of a 2.0 or Ver Ka. And you get it, but build it as the standard S Gundam, it becomes more like a 1.25 that's over twice the price of the original.

it will never get any 2.0 or ver ka. it is as good as it gets.

it has now a sharper and smaller head, so it follows its novel proportions, but you can still use the lineart proprotion head, it has better colors/part separation, the shoulder slides just like in the novel, the incoms now have wires, you get multiple hands for posing, the backpack is now articulated just like the old illustrations

the only bad point is that it is extremely expensive due to having S-Gundam parts, but I can understand bandai not having to wrack up their head for 2 skus.

it is a very very very good kit specially for a 2003 kit and only need minimal updates.

Infact, I wish all MGs get this kind of updates like including new hands for holding weapon poses instead of old pre-2004 hands and other small updates to better color/parts separation. a lot of old MGs would improve immensely by having small updates like the Ex-S 1.5

The proportions are still fucked because they didn't touch the legs at all. Compare it to the Metal RD, which was entirely based on Katoki's rendition of the design, and you can see what I mean. The stocky legs on the MG give the impression the Ex-S is shorter than it actually is. The lack of posability of the MG is also down the absence of a waist swivel too. The ZZ Ver Ka has one so the Ex-S should have no trouble accommodating it either.

And the Ex-S/S 2019 MG was already a hard sell at that asking price, at 200 bucks the Task Force Alpha version might as well be highway robbery.

Why come for the new 80s sunrise mecha hgs they have 6 heavy metal l-gaims and 3 metal armor dragonars but only 2 aura battler dunbines (from the tv show)? I know some of the l-gaims aren’t entirely new molds and more of 1.5s but still would be cool to get more new hg aura battlers.

Kotobukiya's line of plastic accessories & modification parts, Modeling Support Goods.
Koto are smaller than bandai and have ass for international distribution systems so they're carried much less frequently in burger stores. They also reprint a lot less often. I've sculpted something for almost every groupbuild entry I've done. I find it rewarding, but the right material that suits the artist is very important. Many swear by Kneadatite (Green Stuff) as a sculpting medium, but I find like it working with old chewing gum. It's rubber-ness is a reason miniature sculpters use it, as certain techniques require it's "flex". Myself, i always use Apoxy Sculpt, as it dries rock solid and I can sand away any mistakes after it cures.
If you need sharp edges, use styrene sheet (plasticard) and smooth/sand the putty right to it.
As for symmetry, the Grimzock here is terribly asymmetric, but I was able to smooth it by spray painting it an even colour then sanding away the paint. Every peak gets sanded away first, and any valley can be filled if necessary.

Dry transfer decals are annoying but doable. Cut out the decal and tape it down using glossy Scotch tape, then use a ball point pen (preferably a dead one so you can see what the decal is doing) and basically scribble over the decal. Don't press too hard or go too fast as you might start warping the plastic. You'll see the decal separate from the plastic backing as you go, just make sure everything has released before removing the tape as even a tiny missed sliver will remain on the plastic. If you don't have a pen for any reason anything round and smooth works, the reason I prefer the pen is the ball rolls and won't tend to pull on the plastic which might fuck everything up.

I finished this Macha Ark "Dominant Titan" Messer. It looked like I was going to be able to build either the F-01 version or the F-02 but the kit is missing a few armor panels that would have allowed it. The huge leg skits detach easily so it's unfortunate the option isn't there/ The pauldrons are optional, and the kit comes with extra panels if you decide to go without them, I went with the single pauldron. Unfortunately his mono-eye is static and stuck directly behind the bar in his visor. I might try to replace the skull with something else like an extra Gouf skull so I can move it to the side. Just use something sticky like a blob of blu-tac or a bit of duct tape to pull the plastic dust out from the teeth. Masking tape works okay but not great since after all it's intentionally less tacky than regular tape (so as to avoid leaving residue or pulling up paint).

You can opt for no shoulder pauldrons if you want, it comes with a separate panel with a blank in place of the pauldron's mount. I just did a quick count and I have 4 packages/8 stands of them. I have had to glue the top joint from the peg breaking exactly the same way on 6 of them now. You're still left with workable articulation and the rest of the stand is fine but they need to increase the thickness of the wall because this is fucking retarded. The only two that haven't given me problems so far are holding up the Engage Gundams, basically some of the lightest HGs that I own I guess. The one I have holding up G05 broke though.

I've been using acrylic polyurethane for a really long time now so i can't really speak for other paint types, but you'd generally want to do a few very light layers before laying down a heavy wet coat for that smooth and glossy finish.

with lacquers you just come in close with the airbrush and spray a thick-looking wet coat that looks smooth, as long as the surface you're spraying on is also smooth (the paint layer is really thin after drying so lower grit sanding scuffs/surfacers will affect the gloss). levelling thinner makes it easier but it's not needed, you just have to come in much closer with normal thinner or prethinned paints with no retarder in because it dries so fast.
i've never figured out the technique with acrylics though, they just run/pool when i do what i do with lacquers and it seems to be hit and miss whether it comes out well if i build up the layers slowly.
