Melee is kinda bland, even the gigamace feels floaty despite how restrictive it is in commitment to the attack
You have legs but you can't slide or kick or wallrun? No barehand combo? No gauntlet weapons? This is like gayer Warframe (and that says something) but with flight

Didn't like the desert map.
Ubisoft open-world (strongholds, mining points).
Aerial battles are weird.
Loot system is cool.
Don't like the color palette.
Movement options are good.

I think I'm going to pass on this one. I'm reaching 40 next year and I absolutely don't the have the time anymore for games with busywork, specifically Ubisoft-esque open world games.

I mean they're all bipedal. But if you mean does weight/customization matter this time it does.
Weight hits stagger limit, head dramatically impacts Femto/Stamina consumption, and various moves do more damage/recover faster dependent on how you build. It's alright.

What I mean is that ubisoft loves to fill their map up with useless busywork. Mining for rocks has no place in a mech game. Hell, I'll PAY for others to mine, but I don't want to get into my power armor to hit a rock with a pickaxe. That's fucking dumb.

How about something more akin to an economy of a real mine, like
>there's a mine here, but a ton of monsters
>you have to clear the way around the mine and sometimes the boss inside (if there's any)
>then it generates passive income and some rare stones

I understand you may find this "commonplace" because other games use it, but I don't want to fly up to a rock and mine it. That's stupid.

Moving around probes or shooting scripted transmission towers isn't particularly interesting, I'd rather have better enemies or more parts honestly.
The procgen dungeon in the first game was also atrocious and the (admittedly little, I hope) time and money they spent on that should have been spent on finishing the main campaign and balancing the game instead.

Dude, what in the world are you talking about? They shouldn't have wasted time and people on any of that shit to begin with, who wants to play fucking card games in a mecha game? The vehicles are already an afterthought and there's even less reasons to have horses and shit as rides either, it's all wasted effort for a team that is already operating on a tight budget and can't afford to bite more than they can chew.

As a matter of fact, I can't even think of a ubisoft with actual mining. And busy body bullshit isn't a ubisoft staple, it's an open world staple. Which is why you're collecting seeds in BoTW, coins in Odyssey, stickers in Kart World, Words in skyrim, etc. Why monhun had it's endemic life, why HZD had it's (more ubisoft esque I might add) towers, etc etc.

The outposts aren't ubisoft esque either, they're the entrance to a mini dungeon.

>the bows are abysmal in damage
Let's not get crazy here.
Even without weakpoints like in webm related the things dps in through the roof both up close (due to it's shotgun full charged shots) and afar (due to single-double charged shots)
Sniper has better damage on weakpoints but overall far lower dps while pistols are harder to use.

And while it's crit mod is decent (21%) it doesn't completely shatter the weapon if you don't crit (like daggers) or fall off a cliff if you're not on weakpoints (like pistols)
Overall the damage is, in the demo at least, the highest you can get out of a single weapon slot.

Almost makes me want to use Mouse and keyboard. Only almost.

Mostly childhood traumas from getting filtered hard by the early game and never reaching a point where everything clicks and things become fun.
The only other AC I've had a comparable visceral problem with was Last Raven, and the funny thing about LR is I stuck with it long enough to hit the I-Get-It point where it quickly became my favorite Armored Core rivaled only by Silent Line. I never got to that point with 2, so I'm still left with a lot of sour opinions of it that cloud my ability to give the game a fair shake, as insane as that sounds.

I'm biased because I had actually really wanted someone to make musumechame AC, but back when a thread was up, there was a guy who absolutely loathed the idea and tried to customize his doll so you couldn't tell there's a girl there, but still admitted to really enjoying the game.

Exosuits instead of mecha, turbo hyper fast movement without even the thought of weight to it, semi-soulslike equipment and combat that manages to have no impact at all. I swear half of the people complaining about these games haven't even played them. DXM2 is more heavy than the first game, despite the fact that the power suits are smaller than the mechs. Even with the fastest build in the demo, you can't maneuver like this.

I do have a lot of qualms with this game and I wish the devs were wiser than they are, but how in the world are people, on /m/ of all places, complaining about the power armor?
Nevermind the first game already having hints of that with some augments like the back booster and arm blades for your Outer because admittedly almost nobody bought the first game, how are people complaining about something so fundamentally /m/ as power armor, which has even less vidya representation than proper mecha suits?

weightier than the first game doesn't mean it has weight to it. A lot of this is just that man-sized exosuits are so much less interesting to me on about every level. the equip slots, swapping each hand around, and the melee stuff made me think of that (though only in a vague sense).

Honestly a ton of my inability to get interested in the game is on an aesthetic/conceptual level. The floating equipment and holotech (like how your helmet just vanishes and reappears) just bum me out since it's not the sort of thing I enjoy with mecha style content. The visual design of exosuits also feels way more limited in what you can do compared to a mech, and feels more like you're just putting on armor sets than anything else.

All just opinions though, not saying the game is actually bad. I just have a mecha-sized hole that nothing has filled since AC6

I didn't really feel as fast in comparison in the DxM demo despite functionally being way faster than in Vanquish for other stylistic reasons too. It's hard to explain

Also, stun mines are absurdly potent but you end up trying to play Monster Hunter against fast moving objects when using them.
In squads, one of the outer augment abilities is for rebooting downed arsenals so that also adds a support element to them.
And finally there's like one regular mission that has you infiltrating on foot, off top of head. And another where an alternate outcome is triggered by disembarking.

But I do know a lot of games just really hate the freakish hybrid idea of mixing a mouse and a game pad in any form, even if it creates some surprisingly synergistic results.

Those aren't aliens. Those are wild life corrupted by femto and immortals. Also some of them are former humans who overdosed on femto and mutations. As for the switch the only ingame explanation is the compactization of tech since it's nearly 600 years from the first game. Design wise I think they wanted to move away from their AC inspiration, even if their roots are still inherent.

So for those that don't know, Fromsoft had an official tournament and added arena NPCs in the form of a 2nd disc. And they beefed them up. DxM is basically doing an online version of this. How it goes and how they do it, don't know yet.

To be fair the OG Arsenals were already a sort of oversized power armor, they were pretty small, more or less Knightmare frame size and with a power armor-esque control setup.
I'm still not sure what to think of the Baikanfu twist of putting a power armor into a bigger mech Machine Robo style, but I don't think it's bad as much as it's a huge problem in terms of development and design since you need a lot more budget to also invest into customization for your "baikanfu" and balance it without annoying gimmicks like being gated behind a timer.
I dig the VF idea though, but again, it's something that's just too costly, I'd rather have them focus entirely on one of the two, either give us in depth powerarmor with cool movement tech like Warframe or VF style arsenals with a lot of cool configurations, if you try to do both at the same time you end up with too many issues.

If we consider the first game a testbed for future ideas, the on-foot combat could be considered the prototype of the second game's combat. So maybe that mission where you pilot Rebellion was a testbed for their "mecha" idea? Imagine piloting a huge mecha with a heavy arsenal piloted by a light arsenal and steadily losing layers as the fight goes on. Like >>23491018 said though, the development work to make that happen would be really costly. Well the regular cycle swap is just useless, but when input "swap L > left", I expect to be able to repeat the same string to get the original weapon back where it was. Instead it often gets fucked up and gives me the weapon from the other shoulder instead. I don't really get why.

That being said, I don't understand why you expected an AC6 clone. If you want to play AC6 then go play AC6. It's an excellent game with plenty of replayability. Trying to go head to head with Fromsoft is just a losing proposition. First Studio was always going to make a more expressive and welcoming game than Armored Core because otherwise DXM2 was going to be another one of those Soulslike games that followed on DS3's wake.

Might be a different laser rifle, not sure. I think the arms can affect rapid fire capabilities? Those techniques work with almost any gun though (unsure about miniguns). The first one is just holding forward for momentum and then left/right to strafe jump. Also worth noting that the entire build is heavyweight aside from the legs there, which means the jump penalty for weight probably isn't harsh enough. The second one is jumping while boosting to maintain your boost and momentum while shooting without spending much femto.

Speed freaks hated it because it was hard to manipulate the controls and it was vastly slower. I love 4th gen, I really do, but 5th gen scratched an itch close to VOTOMS and even beyond it. I'm sad it tried to regulate itself to multiplayer, but it's system for it and territory invasions, not to mention the world bosses(I wish it didn't die when the online plug got pulled), felt pretty good despite some massive lag and technical issues(I wish I played on PS3 just cause of international play). 5th gen also had that boxy scrapped armor look that no other mech game had at the time with KE and CE parts and TE heavy parts had that giant, bulbous yet smooth design I would in 80's and 90's mecha. Also had one of the sexiest, if not THE BEST, mono eye design, the HD-223 RAIKO/HB-141. Anyways enough ranting.

People always say 5th gen was "vastly slower", but I feel like outside of the unlimited energy regulation in 4 Answer, 5th gen could be just as fast if you also built for speed like in 4A. I particularly remember in regular V building a lightweight for pvp and going to fast that it was actually impractical to utilize as I would quickboost/walljumping so fast it would nearly put me off screen and always going too far to position properly to land any shots. I imagine you could go even faster in VD on a lightweight. I did play VD, but got it late and didn't invest as much time in it over V.
Anonymous No.23497013
>>23496908
V and VD had an inertia effect that I don't think any mecha games matched(I would really like to be proven wrong). Sure 4 started with it something similar, but the way it was in 5th gen was more polished and weighty, even with the light weights. VD also fixed alot of substantial shit and it was just like 4 into 4A, going even faster. Also the QB felt more powerful due to effects and weight mechanics.

Reskinned bosses for gear grind. Thing is, you can set the game to story and burn through the bosses since they have a similar drop rate to hard. You'd think getting better gear would prep you for harder bosses, but there's no bonus for playing on hard. I haven't seen any new attacks or AI patterns on story compared to hard. So it's kinda disappointing that you can burn it all on the easiest.

Though it could lock some gear behind hard that I haven't earned, but I don't think that's the case.

There's still the boring card game, the really shitty races, and mediocre side missions. There's also "dungeons". dunno if they're randomly generated, I did like 3 and stopped.
