No it doesn't, what are you talking about? Not to put them down or anything because they're a very good weapon class, but straight swords have worse range than thrusting swords, worse frame data, overwhelmingly worse scaling ouside of some rare options like the Coded Sword, they can't even use the busted greatshield poke setup that thrusting swords have access to, nor can they leverage the counter function of pierce attacks anywhere as well as thrusting sword.
The only thing they do uncontestably better is having a stronger powerstanced moveset and dedicated ARC and FTH options, I don't think you actually tried to really use thrusting swords, even putting aside their dominance in PvP they're incredibly strong, too strong arguably.
