Nah, it's not a "Give me less stuff" thing. When the only parts of the component robots you end up using are the arms, lower legs, and crane/ladder arms you're left with all this shit. Yeah, you're left with a lot of stuff that you COULD use for kitbashing in theory, but then you lock yourself into only displaying it as Choryujin forever.

To use another combiner as an example, Moderoid God Mars has you build all 6 components separately, yet in order to get the on-screen look for both the individual robots and the combined Godmars, you basically have to dismantle the arm/leg mechs by removing pretty much everything except their torso, then slapping on an additional part below that to attach pretty much the entire lower leg. This is everything you're left over with.

Fun fact, I used the blue leg pieces from Sphinx as the backpack parts for the Earthshaker Hound last groupbuild. Yeah this puts me in the scenario that I'll never be able to properly display the six together, but I bought the thing for Godmars, not Gaia, Sphinx. Uranus, Titan, Ra, and Shin. However it's completely understandable to want to display Hyoryu and Enryu on their own instead of ChoRyujin since they're actual characters instead of mindless combiner drone pieces.

Most acrylics paints won't really stick to the plastic on their own. The primer is a medium that adheres to the plastic, which the paint can then stick to.

I just spent 4.5 hours. turning FM Vidar into a Gusion.
Who the fuck told me that IBO Gundams have the same frame? that's a goddamn LIE.

I had to do a fucking tranny surgery on Vidar's waist just so it can fit inside Gusion's body armor.
Gusion's Leg, Arm and Body (Back) armors rely on long male connectors that connect into a hole in the arm/leg, which Vidar doesn't have, so I had to snip all the male connectors on armors or made a hole in some of the frame part (another tranny surgery).
And the THIGH - LEG joints are straight up incompatible. Gusion's joints are "Claw" type, while Vidar is... idk how to call it, but it's Gear-like/Circular, so I had to snip the Circular stuff and turned it into a Claw shape that I can insert into the hole inside Gusion's leg + double tape, so it can actually stay there with minimal leg articulation.

Goddamn man, I'm just a casual snapshitter, but I felt like RAYSTUDIO trying to fit an Infinite Justice inside a Z'gok today.

That was very tough, but well worth it.

Also, the Hammer is way too heavy to lift.
Gusion/Rebake set provides 4 gripping hands, but 2 can only be used on Rebake's backpack arms since the joints are too big for the normal arms and I already used both gripping hands on Rebake, so there's nothing left for Gusion.
I tried using Vidar's gripping hand on Gusion, but of fucking course it's incompatible with Gusion's green hand armor, so I had to use Rebake's right hand and let Rebake grip the Axe with its backpack 3rd hand instead.

I mean fuck, even the $300+ Soul of Chogokin includes parts to swap out for a more anime accurate look, even though it can still do a perfect transformation. It's just the nature of Symmetrical Docking where you either have to sacrifice any semblance of joints in the torso or do faux parts for it to be fully articulated.

I've been thinking about 3D-printing spare parts for an old kit i have (cant hold his rifle due to loose joints). You wouldnt know if there are already some databases with the 3D models already done?. Or im going to learn to model them myself. Or maybe its a bad idea to begin with

What kit? You could literally buy a "Joint Strengthening Pen" and just apply a little bit and strengthen the joints. Alternatively it would be faster to recast the joints unless you have a printer and it's simple enough to 3d model.

It's about the right depth for Action Base 1s for MGs even with their extendy bit and about 6 wide. I think you can fit 4 MG height shelves with an extra for HG?

It's not as much plastic as you think. The S Gundam Booster lacks a inner frame ouside of its upper body which is just a S Gundam.

Deep Striker is the only Master Grade kit that completely lacks a inner-frame. If it had been released earlier it would have probably been a RE/100 kit and might have been planned as such.

Like the engineering, inner frame, and way it was put together floored me, the Acguy in the show was kinda unimpressive, but the work they did on the MG Acguy made it so much cooler. It's really hit & miss. The plastic quality in general is absolutely worse than Bandai kits but it's not terrible. It is noticeably thinner though. The bigger issue with Moderoid is seam line placement & the over reliance on stickers/waterslides for colour accuracy. Their out of the box looks range from dogshit to decent so you'll likely have to spend some time touching it up.

Articulated fingers have never been the issue. There are many robots from bandai that have articulated fingers and are fantastic. Sazabi and Nu Gundam have some of the best hands. Articulated and no issues holding their weapons in my experience. The problem is the weight. It's always the weight.

Hinge hands can hold weapons well once the padd them with paint. And the balljointed fingers aren't really the main problem, it is how they severely lack the gripping strength real hands have. Toys and models replicate this strength by making the hands static. MG Barbatos can hold its mace well enough. MKV can with its big gun, too. The partially static hands are superior and it is not even a subjective thing.

Pro tip, that putty they sell for cleaning gunk out of your keyboard also does a pretty good job at cleaning up beat up sanding sponges.

I've done four of five kits now, but I still don't have a good technique down for effectively sanding curved surfaces on tiny pieces. It feels like a crapshoot whether or not a small little stress mark will be left behind.

Just built my first modern MG. Only ever built the old Ex-S and the FAZZ. I kinda see why some of you are constantly crying about the lack of these, they're a very pleasant build experience. I fucking hate the hands though.

Whats up with the 2010-2015 era of gunpla? I have 2 kits from that era (one HG GM and one MG thunderbolt) and both of them have weird fitting issues. Newer kits are obviously better, but as I got into the hobby, I've found out that mid 2000s HGs and even my 2003 Zgok are a lot more precise than the kits from that era.

Is it strange to be hooked on buying model kits of a show I don't even really like that much? I've started buying up all the kits from the show Girl Gun Lady. I tried watching the show, it was just okay. It wasn't bad by any stretch but it just didn't hook me. But for some reason I'm in love with the kits they released with this show, both the guns and the girlpla kits. I've got all four of the team pistols though I haven't even started building yet, I'm only missing the pink assault rifle, the under barrel grenade launcher, and a few of the girlpa. At a glance, it's weird that this show wasn't a hit, because it seems like they threw everything Japanese audiences like into a blender. Cute schoolgirls building model kits of guns, that then become real guns once built, and they have to team up with living model kit girls that can shift between human form and plastic model and even combine with the guns, and they all have to fight to the death Battle Royale style. And the kits are show accurate in scale, 1:1! I really would have liked to have seen more weapons in this show's style.

How do clear parts react to Tamiya Pearl Clear coat? I had the idea of putting that on the red transparent parts of the Moon Gundam's psycho plates, while I matte coated the back and the rest of the kit.

I like having the hero and villain together. So if I get Turn X I'll want Turn A to display with it. Same goes for Zeong/Gundam. Getting Sazabi MG since if I was waiting for a PG Sazabi to go with the Nu I ordered I might be waiting another 20 years.

The reason I went with RG for RX-78-2/Zeong was the RG of Zeong looks really good and I like the modernized take on it. The MG Zeong by comparison was kinda dated and would look silly displayed next to an MG 3.0 RX-78-2. I just like when they take an older design and add a bunch of new details and stuff it makes building them fun. I like it more than the clean lines and Anime accurate look.

The O has an MG now which is cool, and I kinda want that to go along with my Zeta/Hyaku/MK-II, but looking at the kit on Dalong it really looks underwhelming, with a barebone inner frame, shit articulation (understandable but disappointing) also its stupidly expensive and not in stock anywhere I looked besides. So I was going to skip that one. ZZ Ver Ka looks really impressive too, the articulation and innerframe details on that one is what I'd have liked to see on The O, I might consider that down the road once I've satisfied my current gunpla splurge. I think once I build all the ones I've already I might come back to it. I need to stop and just build the ones I've got coming. Think I'll start with the Ver Ka Ball as that looks the simplist of the ones I've ordered, it'll give me some much needed practice as I haven't built one of these since in like two decades.

Also I think its cool that all these years late Dalong is still going and doing reviews, he was the defacto gunpla reviewer even back when I was building kits as a teenager in the early 2000s.

They're telling you the Shining Finger Sword could be included with the Gundam Base Exclusive True Super Mode version, and it should be bigger than the one the HGFC has, hopefully complete with clear green holding hands just for the move alone. Here's what I was talking about with The O and ZZ ver ka both are "fat" so I can kinda forgive the shit articulation but just look at how much more detail and parts you get with ZZ ver ka and from where I'm looking you can get ZZ and its half the price of The O, if The O is even in stock anywhere which it usually isn't. Although I never got the zaku and I only used the lightcannon for kitbash parts, never fully assembling it.
