ok so i used to be big into power rangers when i was a kid and recently came across all these japanese super sentai, kamen rider clips. And that rabbit hole just fascinates me.
So I wanted to ask you guys. What would be a great starting point to get into this shit?

Once you find one you want, you can either search nyaa.si for torrents or use the viewer links in the OP to actually get episodes. Some have official streaming releases in the United States if you're a burger, I'd google it real quick if you're lazy enough to not mind mediocre translation and video quality but ease of access.
I recommend not listening to specific show picks because it might set you up with false expectations.

Super Sentai are an explicit team of at least 3 transforming heroes with a shared aesthetic and motif, more commonly 5 on average and distinctly color-coded. Their fights and narratives are built around working together as a group, typically punctuated with a giant robot battle of some kind. It's typically a little bit more juvenile but it doesn't really condescend or worsen itself over that, just means the stakes don't ever get any darker than "Oh wow."

Kamen Rider is just "one" guy, though more typically show up throughout the show for escalation's sakes but they typically aren't a cohesive color-coded unit like Super Sentai. The big gimmick is they all share powers, motifs, and themes with the monsters they fight - maybe they use the same specific items or they're the same species of monster or they went through the same body modification process. Kamen Rider is SLIGHTLY less juvenile than Super Sentai, particularly in earlier seasons where people will outright be killed on screen in shocking fashion but nothing more brutal than blood makeup on someone's face, and covering some slightly more abstract themes (if in heavy-handed fashion due to still being for kids).

whichever one you think looks cool is usually a good starting point. I started with Zyuranger back in like 2011 or 2012 for example because of Power Rangers nostalgia, loved it, and most people say if you can stomach Zyuranger you can watch basically anything. Super Sentai is geared towards a slightly younger audience than Kamen Rider, but it doesn't really make a huge difference if the cool factor pulls you in.

I won't give any recs since I know my tastes are usually different from most people, but that's my general advice.

Kamen Rider is usually one guy fighting an evil force with the same power as them. Some series' are more kiddy than others but overall it's darker than sentai.

Overall quality wise. Sentai is more consistent because it rarely tries anything new while Rider is always experimenting even when it fails.

Every Kamen Rider season and Super Sentai season are mostly standalone. Only ones that kind of require having seen prior seasons are Skyrider and Zi-O, in Super Sentai's case Gokaiger, but even then their story is standalone enough that you can understand the shows without any prior knowledge. So since most seasons aren't connected in any substantial way it's recommended to just pick whatever show catches your eye.
If that still seems intimidating to you then I recommend either watching ZO which is a standalone movie rather than a 40+ episode series, W because it's a good season to ease you into the usual tropes found in Kamen Rider plus it has a sequel Anime series which might be a more familiar medium to you or Kiramager which just like W is good to get used to Sentai's tropes. There's also a new Kamen Rider season called Zeztz that's starting this weekend which will be the first season to get a worldwide simulcast, according to the staff the show is being made as an entry point to bring in new viewers so you might want to keep an eye on that.

Kamen Rider and Super Sentai are made by the same Studio and sometimes the same staffers, the key difference is that Super Sentai's focus is a bunch of people coming together to defeat some villains while learning how to work as a team while Rider focuses on a single protagonist whose powers originate from an evil source. Otherwise it's whatever the staff wants.

A starting point really depends on what you want in a series. My personal recommendations:
Build, Gaim, Zero-One and Geats all seem to be fairly common starter series for people since they're all-around solid and they have more serialized plot structure.
Kuuga, Ryuki, and Drive are series that are looked on favorably. Kuuga and Ryuki are way different so they don't set expectations but they are really good, Drive tends to get neglected because while it's a good show I think it's very safe and doesn't really have any major flaws but at the same time doesn't feel as ambitious.
Ex-Aid is quite good if you can get past the strange suit design. With the suits in mind being kind of off-putting I find it hard to recommend as an entry point, though.
The W-OOO-Fourze trio are still extremely strong series that showcase form changes really well and have a good balance of more serious and lighthearted elements. For most people the trio are really easy choices for starter shows.

Kamen Rider has a slightly older target demographic, although both are still shooting for elementary-aged boys.
Kamen Rider focuses more on a range of power sets and the form change gimmick. Suits tend to be bulkier and more complicated than Sentai suits. Kamen Rider typically has more serialized elements while Sentai is more Monster of the Week, though most Riders do still have a monster of the week format at least in the first quarter or up to the last ten or so episodes.

Gavv just ended and is a generally good season, and the upcoming Zeztz we don't know but it's likely that Toei will be very cautious with it since they want it to succeed to hopefully get Rider to gain international steam.

Not really, Ghost and Gotchard require to watch a lot of side content material to get the full picture of the story, just like Ryuki, Decade, Ex-Aid, Build, Zero-One and Saber, meaning that you'll need a viewers guide to watch them. With Izu and Geo not doing Zeztz due to Shout getting the rights and Shout has a retarded non-archived release schedule and AI subs, is there any hope for any good releases? Any other sub groups that will pick it up?

The way Jiph and Lizel were treated is what really cemented Gaav as a superior series to Gotchard for me, besides Shouma's and allies being the obviously better MC group. Unlike the 3 dark sisters, at least Jiph and Lizel's screentime and journey didn't feel like a waste of time because their conclusion in their series, despite being rushed, was kinda satisfying. They are good foils to Hanto, and killing them off would have been a dick move.

The 3 dark sisters were foils to Rinne and Spanner, and arguably had more screentime dedicated to them than Lizel and Jiph, but the writers failed to stick the landing by anticlimatically killing them off and never doing something more with them. So their journey felt like a pointless waste of time.

I've watched Gotchard's subs and it did have zoomerlingo from the time, but it was still comprehensive enough, basically they're equivalent to Crunchyroll subs.
Geo is straight up irredeemable, and I'm not sure why people hire him in the first place since from my understanding it's literally the exact same situation as Mieruko and Genm Corp, essentially the subbers from Genm Corp except from Genm Corp himself do all the actual work while Geo just shits over the subs making the episodes unwatchable. If you ever bothered to read their Baidu threads you would see that their opinions aren't too diferent from the stuff we say here, including the constant criticisms that Reiwa is overall weaker than Heisei. They're not blindly praising Gotchard over there, it does get its fair bit of criticism.

Something I will say I'm a huge fan with Gavv is that people actually died when they were killed. My complaint about all the civilian casualties in Gavv is that the heroes seemed to be increasingly unphased by them the longer the show went on, even after they start ramping up with Bocca's plan, no one has a big breakdown over it or anything. They just seem to accept that they failed to save hundreds of people without much issue, it's not like in Kuuga where you can see how the Gurongi's mass murders take their toll on Godai's psyche as he processes the fact that more and more victims are piling up. And Kuuga isn't the only show where someone breaks down over failing to save civilian lives.

Also, I feel like Rakia would've only deserved death if he hadn't saved all the people he kidnapped as a Part-Timer. In terms of death bait scenes I didn't like how his was executed with his fight against the Agent horde being offscreened only for him to fall to his "death" in the door dimension because of a simple screw up, we didn't even get a scene of the heroes realizing he might've died, it just cuts to the epilogue where they assume he's safe back in the Granute World, which he is. I think the finale could've benefitted from a bigger sense of stakes.

I think they just ignored that happened. The episode showed it as Jamato victory, with the dead Jamato ressurecting and so it should permanently kill all humans that died there, not just the Riders. But right afterwards only the Riders seemed to be regarded as dead and the caretaker of the Invess was acting like most were dead by that point of the show.

It really feels like someone messed up somewhere and all later episodes treat Buffa's victory there as a Rider victory, while the episode itself treated it as a Jamato victory.

Yusuke's true role was to help form Tsukasa's emotional support network. It's just that since Tsukasa was both stronger and smarter than Yusuke, coupled with the fact that he was, you know, the protagonist, and it basically left Yusuke with absolutely nothing.

Honestly Shouma, especially in the beginning. He's a bit more of a teddy bear, but first quarter Shouma acted pretty similar how Hongo was in the beginning down to the feeling of loneliness and the sense of responsibility and pain of taking out his kind.
