Just got back from work and rewatched the episode to properly collect my thoughts, this one was great! One of the funnier episodes in a while and definitely one of the better stallion episodes in recent memory. Tamers has an uncanny ability to release top tier episodes after very divisive ones, even the drama felt proper in a Tamers setting because although there was some deep cutting shit said between Braeburn and his father it still didn't take itself too seriously like some of the drama Tamers has leaned into recently. Not too say Tamers can't do serious drama good, the ending of the Arson episode was one of Tamers' overall best scenes in his animation tenure only topped by Flora's deconstruction in my opinion. Also as the guy who posts Dr. Hooves and Derpy every couple of threads I thought his "involvement" in the episode was hilarious. I feel like there's a joke about regeneration in there somewhere but maybe I'm looking to far into it. Also Sombra going after him confirms he's straight, so I'll keep on hoping we get some stuff with him and Derpy if he ever appears again. It probably won't but a man can hope.

My theory is that Celestia's homophobia comes more from a visceral reaction, rather than a genuine belief rooted in logic.
We saw from TDOTS that Celestia had a very... interesting reaction to Luna smooching her. And we know from a bunch of scenes that Celestia is most definitely attracted to Luna and displays homoerotic tendencies herself.
In my mind, Celestia's homophobia stems from her desperately trying to deny her own feelings for her sister.
It also pairs up nicely with my Two Timelines Theory, since it explains why Celestia's homophobia is toned down in mare episodes, due to the events of SH only happening in there.

Fluttershy is probably just a desperate dick-rider who latches on to any ideology that'll make people give her the time of day. Once she realized Celesta didn't give a shit about her, and that she could attain recognition by helping the gays, she changed her tune immediately (though she still has some of the old programming left, as seen in the credits).

Okay so I think that hoodies are the clothing of choice for GAYS but not of femboys. The hoodie has become a huge motif in the gay side of the show but, for the record, Twilight wears a hoodie for her space exploration outfit and she's not a stallion but she does fuck Trixie which makes her a homo but for women.
Throughout both Tamers SU and Tamers MLP the actual clothing option of choice for femboys and whatever the fuck Apple Split (I'd argue at the very least the hypothetical upper limit of femboyness, straddling the line between fem-male and female, discussion for another time), is slouchy shoulder clothes.

You can see that the more feminine the faggot, the more frequently they are featured wearing slouchy shoulders, up to and especially Apple who is such a femboy that in their ideal world daydream they imagine themselves with a cardigan where the shoulders have slouched right off and are barely even being worn. One shoulder slouched is usually the key style but wide collars with two shoulders slouched are featured and it's hard to gauge if it being off kilter is gayer than both shoulders riding low, but I think either way you see my point.

if it's really two timelines I think it will be retroactive rather than planned. Most of the differences can be chalked up to tamers being shit at consistency in general and intentionally segregating the mare/stallion stuff after DoTS/Soarin and Braeburn. Still, Springtime has just as much clothing layering opportunity, it has blossoming trees and cool air too. However, their role here is obvious. Just like every other homo included in the episode, they were included so that twilight could simultaneously fuck up the wedding and also trick a bunch of people into actually attending the wedding. They are here because their existence annoys soaraburn, even more than all the other homos, enough that braeburn would have business talking to them about it. They put a specific name and face to the conflict the story is presenting. That's pretty much what a role in a story is.

On average, notable pony images are going to be higher work and higher pride in the product, but also the ponies default appearances are in horse-shape. Having witnessed the results of her manipulations in dotl, her main questions were answered. Until she understands far far more about the world, she won't know enough to form that kind of interesting question again.

She doesn't know enough to know what it is that she doesn't know, or how to ask the right questions. There's no point in careful manipulation if you're already just wandering around and doing whatever you feel like doing with no resistance.
