People who waifu characters that have pre-established relationships or other characters already pining for them (i.e. Rarifags with spike, married characters and their spouses, etc.), how do you imagine things going with them if you were in Equestria?

Spike lets go of his Rarity obsession by the end of the show and it's never taken seriously by Rarity, I don't think it's fair to have that type of relationship in the same breath as actual couples like Cadance and Shining.

I remember one time, big long ago, I don't remember what general, but there was something like that written, and I only remember a snippet about what happened when a 'cadancefag' went before the married couple.
Something about that Anon walking away while weathering a smoldering glare of disapproval or some shit.
tldr: The princesses meet their fans, and the peetzerfags found out that no, their while their waifu might be the princess of love, she's also the princess of monogamy.

Arriving in S9 Equestria would be quite off-putting, but even in the worst version of Equestria I'd befriend Discord so hard, he'd realize he doesn't have to simp for the first pony who had given him some attention, and I might just be the better match. You're welcome, Flutterfags.

This one feels like a false equivalence. Rarity is depicted multiple times within the show using her feminine charm to get what she needs from the opposite sex. I don't recall her once ever being depicted as pining for Spike in any romantic sense. Caring for him yes, but the romantic interest is one-sided.

As reward for giving her his at the time most valued possession, yes. I think it lines up. Plus, she also used him as a pin cushion. That feels far less like 'I love you' and more like 'how low will you go for me?' For the "romantic" of the group, her use of Spike seems far too utilitarian.
Rarifags, I swear I'm not trying to imply your waifu is a gold digger, I'm just going off the show.

I meant more like how would you deal with Spike's love of Rarity in that regard (which is why I said "other characters already pining for them"). Personally, it just feels weird to me stepping infront of someone else and stealing their waifu right infront of their eyes. Would you try to like, befriend Spike and let him down easy? Or just ignore him and pretend he doesn't exist? Stuff like that. Obviously Rarity isn't attracted to the small, baby dragon who's basically the son of her best friend.

I think Spike's a kid who would get over it. He got the same heart eyes for his surrogate mother the second she got the Rarity hairdo anyways. I'm very doubtful his whole world would be shattered, he'd grow up and find another that might actually reciprocate.

In practical terms, he's a pubescent boy pining for a grown mare. It was never meant to be, and he'll realise that as he grows up. If all else fails, he's only a little bit larger than a football, so you could just punt him to the opposite side of the Everfree and not worry about it while you make foals with the marshmallow.
