Is there reason/advantage to learn the CAGED method when I am already in progress of just learning/practicing moveable M7, m7, 7, m7b5 chords with roots on 6th, 5th and 4th string as well as some scales and arpeggios?

I could dig this, especially if I used more than just the neck and combined positions more often.

>>127437839
I rarely if ever use the out of phase/parallel settings, or them trem. Mustangs do one thing for me but they do it very well. Neck or combined positions with a low gain TS, and then apply fuzz and distortion as needed for heavier sections of songs.

kind of. a less complicated way would be a standard 3 way and out of phase on one of the knobs, but if you like the sliders where they are this is a nice mod.

This is my experience as well, I don't remember if the 600$ range is standard or player2 but anything under 1k feels dinky and sounds worse than some of the squier CVs I've played. I mean, nice paint job but it's useless if the fingerboard edges aren't rolled, frets aren't polished, and you have some tear out at the bottom of your pau ferro fretboard.
Opposed to this, I got an e-art after being propagandized by the reviews and while the pickups suck the construction quality is exquisite and I got real rosewood and real full-size pots, only the pickups suck but I'm changing those and I got it for 360$ total.

$1600-2000 depending on if you want flame maple necks. traditional is quarter sawn and it is sturdier but doesn't look as good. as cool as it piecemealing name brand parts your options are more limited and neck joint fitment is questionable. as far as bridges go, that's personal preference but i like RSguitarworks for electronics and prewired kits if that's your prerogative. they'll also grade and bin their pots. warmoth for speccing the neck and body. i built a shortscale strat that was chambered and had a AAA roasted flame maple neck and set of slash humbuckers. a guy i knew ended up liking it way more than i did and bought it off me

I got some fiesta red paint and sealer from Stew Mac, imma paint the JM headstock. I watched an inbred Brit do one on youtube and if he can into it, I can do it. Iโ€™m going to take my time with it and probably practice on something less expensive first. The previous owner of my blue Vintera Mustang painted the headstock on it and did a pretty good job matching the color gradient and metallic of the body. I could just buy a 60th anniversary JM in fiesta red that has matching headstock but I kinda want a white JM eventually for my traditional JM.

Partscasters lose value immediately and require you to be a competent luthier to make some "better" than you can pull off the shelf. If you were going to spend close to $2k on a parts guitar (can't believe I just typed that out) you are better off buying a lightly used higher end guitar and paying someone to church it up. I don't mean to discourage you from a fun project, but value wise it doesn't make sense in my opinion.

The biggest is maybe like 250 tops, I used to be in a band with old dudes who covered boomer songs and weโ€™d play at all kinds of country clubs and golf courses around the area for other old boomers. From the ages of like 18 to 25 Iโ€™d do that two Saturdays a month and get around $150 from it plus free food, it was tons of fun. Only crowds I play in front of now is the occasional fill in at church (maybe 50-75 people tops) on drums or bass when needed, guitar every once in a while but there is rarely need for a second guitar

That short horn double cut shape that isnโ€™t too SG like is such a good looking guitar. Those Carvins or like Kramers or Danelectro 59s or even double cut LP Specials and Juniors to a degree, all of those style and shaped bodies are just next level cool. One of the reasons why I wanted a Revstar was that it was kind of in that realm, or at least was similar to the Yamaha SG which is kind of in that realm. That shape is so good looking.

Back in the Day, all Strats were defaulted as Sunburst. The "Custom" finish could be ordered for an extra fee and they put the paint over the Sunburst. That's why you see some old vintage guitars with Sunburst underneath.

I wouldn't know how to even do that. Right now, I'm running an MXR Reverb pedal which is cool enough. It's not a terrible Reverb. It gives texture and some space, but it's nowhere like a Deluxe Reverb for sure. Otherwise, the clean channel is very much Deluxe vibes..with the added bonus of a great gain channel that can get me 90ish metal tones or dialing it back and getting more of a 50s Tweed Fender vibe.

The only Fender you really see in jazz these days is the Tele ironically, maybe the occasional Jazzmaster but not as often as a Tele. Funny how Fender guitars all have their genre theyโ€™re marketed toward, their genre theyโ€™re most associated with, their genre that their players latched onto long after the fact, and getting to them pop up and gain a little bit of a foothold outside of those.

I don't think that's Fender's fault anymore at least. I think they got smart and market to all kinds of genres now. But Gibson is still wishing rock would make a comeback (not that I blame them... I wouldn't mind that either).

Depends on what you like. Specials are just slab bodies with a wraparound tailpiece bridge, actual LPs have a carved top to them and generally have an individual tailpiece and bridge. Specials are lighter, simpler, and were originally the middle point between the student level Junior and full fledged LP. Specials generally have more sustain with the simpler bridge but arenโ€™t as stable tuning wise, but there are good aftermarket bridges that nearly eliminate any intonation issues with them. Both are cool, it just depends on what you like. Iโ€™ve never really played a normal old LP Iโ€™ve liked enough to want to buy for myself, but I love Specials because theyโ€™re just a simple slab of mahogany with guitar hardware stuck on. People call them Gibsonโ€™s Telecaster. Theyโ€™re different enough that if you like both you can easily have both and tell the differences between them but similar enough that they cover a lot of the same ground (Special vs P90 equipped LP, not so much a HB equipped LP). You really canโ€™t go wrong with either.

The yamaha thr5 is kinda appealing as a lazy alternative where I wouldn't even have to get my pedals out.
The gain on the new crush's are nice sounding though. I have an old ass crush 15r right now and the overdrive on it kinda sucked. The OD gain knob on mine is shorting out really bad and not working. I think it has like cheapo pcb mounted pots.
