The driver of a semi-truck that slammed into multiple vehicles, killing three people, on a California highway was allegedly under the influence of drugs, authorities said.
The driver -- identified by authorities as 21-year-old Jashanpreet Singh -- has been charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and driving under the influence of a drug causing injury in connection with Tuesday's chain-reaction crash on Interstate 10 in Ontario, according to a criminal complaint.
He is in the United States illegally and an immigration detainer has also been placed on him, according to the Department of Homeland Security.

disc rot is a serious problem. In 2014 I spent over a year archiving old magazine CDs & DVDs from the 90s to early 2000s. I also went through home-burnt CDs. Of the 200 or so professionally printed CD/DVDs about 5 were completely unreadable, around 20 were damaged and only partially extractable as zip dumps and the rest were slowly on their way out, as reading speed got really bad. The home made CDs from the late 90s+ had a much higher failure rate. I've been slowly uploading that stuff to the Internet Archive. If I were to check on those old CDs again today, there would be at least 30% unreadable. Honestly, archiving old media is the most thankless shit anyone can do, sometimes I wonder why I even bother. All you ever do is give material to some future zoomer (or whatever comes after) shithead, so he can make videos for free monies.
