I’m just too used to where the volume knob is on a Strat and flipping the Tele plate gets the volume knob closer, and sometimes I strum like a caveman and chop the selector switch into the bridge position so flipping it remedies both for me (I could learn to just not strum too aggressively when digging into playing (I won’t))

Recorded this about a year ago I think. Been meaning to finish it with bass, and maybe additional manual drums with the recorded drum machine (Alesis sr-16). Not sure if I want to try to recreate the power trio vibe of the original Band of Gypsies recording, or do a full accompaniment with keyboard and and saxophone, with djembe hand drum and dual floor castanets.

Or I could do a Kavinsky (that song Night Call from the film "Drive" featuring Ryan Gosling) accompaniment. Make it sound like a Band of Robots. That might be better now that I think of it. The vocoder vocal sound on the track is my boss vocoder pedal. Wich has a similar sound to the vocal hook from Night Call.

Anon’s Cone Zone

[Verse 1]
Out the truck with a ThinkPad rig,
Blasting Eurobeat and yelling β€œNO BIG.”
Jannies banned me just for cope,
Now I sling cones off a frayed jump rope.

[Chorus]
Hey fren, want a cone?
Van smells weird and I’m clearly alone.
/Pol/ kids argue over race,
While an anime girl licks cream off her face.
No IDs, no shame,
Just slurs in sprinkles β€” this ain’t a game.
Outside’s hot, but my takes are cold,
And the waffle cones? Black mold bold.

[Verse 2]
Guy from /x/ paid in teeth and sand,
Drew a swastika in soft-serve by hand.
Loli decal on the side of my van,
Still more trusted than a Netflix scan.

[Outro]
So if you’re banned, lost, or just deranged,
Come to the cone truck β€” your life gets… stranger.
No rules, no mods, no VPN,
Just cursed ice cream for you and fren.

its just not how youd write that. youd normally dictate what quality of 7th youre using. or itd be implied from a higher extension, ie c#-11 would indicate a -7 and an 11 extension, etc
i think he meant some sort of alt chord like C#7b5
what he wrote is just a C# an E# and a G, which is just retarded. i guess you could do wholetone nonsense on it, but you can do that on any dominant chord with an altered fifth, doesnt even matter which way its altered. could be + instead. thats why jazz geeks will sometimes just say "C#7alt" and you just gotta fuckin figure it out. kinda annoying

c#dim would be 4 stacked minor thirds (root, b3, b5, bb7) so C#, E, G, Bb
c#half dim would be the same but without the double flat 7, so a B natural instead of Bb
but these are both chords containing minor 3rds. unless otherwise notated, chords are implied to be major, and thats what he wrote
pic unrelated

Typically it's the pressure from the capo and the hardness of the rubber. Kyser uses high pressure and really hard rubber which I find causes the strings to go sharp so you have to retune anytime you use it
That one is called the Shubb Standard Capo. The rubber is really soft and it's supposed to mimic the pressure of a human finger and it's adjustable so you can increase or decrease the pressure by turning a wheel. It's really common with professional guitarists, it's what Keith Richards uses, etc.

I don't have access to equipment with different pickup configs and youtube videos are unreliable, so here I am asking for an opinion

I've played a jazzmaster and the P90s were pretty good for giving me a clear sound with some crunch for a lead. I like Humbuckers because you get a good roar that really hits that hard rock sound without getting lost in bass or fuzz.
How would this sound:
Neck: P90
Bridge: Hum
Anonymous No.127659425 >>127659562

is that where you like the sound of the pickups? having the pickup at the neck will make them a lot warmer and having them at the bridge will add a bunch of mids and some compression

If you love the neck pickup and the bridge is too harsh, then swapping it with a humbucker is a good choice. You might want to put 500k pots in it too.

I'm doing some guesswork as there's only one shop close by that has electric guitars and their hardware variety (to say, pickup configs) are limited. I'm new to getting into the actual guts of guitars.
My hope was the I'd get the clarity of the P90 at the neck with the growling hum at the bridge. But maybe it would be wilder to swap them and put the P90 at the bridge and the hum at the neck?

wilder may not always be better. jazz is a good place to hear a humbucker in the neck with tone rolled off. ok if you want a jazz tone but i prefer single coils in the neck, so that's where i'd put the p90. honestly im not big on bridge pickups at all unless its a bass
