Save up a little while longer for a used Vintera or MIM Fender in the same ballpark price wise. Squiers aren’t horrible but once you try a fender you’ll wish you had the better trem system, electronics and overall QC quality. There’s a drastic difference between my CV Jag and my Vintera and about a similar improvement between the Vintera and the MIJ FSR on the right.

I broke a string today, first time it’s happened in years and years, maybe a decade. I primarily play without a pick, using the tips of my fingers when not fingerpicking. Gave me a good excuse to wipe down and take the trem off my Vintera Jag. I loosened the spring up a little bit and not it feels almost as good as my new FSR Jaguar. Now that I’m set on Mustangs and Jaguars I think I’ll set my sights on a more traditional JM and Deluxe Telecaster

This is now a Jaguar thread, the mustang phase is over.
Just kidding, I still love my mustangs, but this Jap Jag is very fucking nice. I was kind of expecting current year MIJ to not be as good as my 2012 MIJ Mustang but it’s as good if not better all around quality wise. The FSR fiesta Jag has an alder body, pure vintage ‘65 American Jaguar pickups and medium jumbo frets. It’s a special run. I was expecting to have to do some setup because the seller shipped it with the neck taken off but action, break angle, and even intonation was just about spot on. I want to put humbuckers in one but I’m kind of torn on which, I just got this deco boom pickguard for the turquoise Vintera Jag and they don’t sell one cut for HBs, it’s pickups are a bit more anemic sounding than the MIJ/FSR. Walnut Mustang anon, you should consider a MIJ Jag man… they are a measurable step above any of the MIMs I have played, I won’t claim they’re better than US made but based on this one they are on par with them at the very least.
