I also tried a Norden 901 (base, not expedition) and that was surprisingly manageable. Dealer has it on special for 12k and if I were in the market right now I'd be really tempted. What I really want to try though is a Transalp, sat on one a year or so ago before I had my own bike and it seemed manageable at the time but haven't been on one since I actually learned to ride.

Changed my oil, bike is now officially broken in. (Though a lot of people say it gets even better in another 200mi.) I feel like it runs better after the change, sounds gnarlier and seems to rev quicker than it ever did, I wonder if the factory break-in oil was thick as fuck.

Also with kickstand out the suspension will sag more, and as you break it in, the suspension sags more. The difference between my brand new t7 and my friends 4 year old t7 was nuts, until I gave it a year and now ours is mostly the same ride height

Yeah, maybe once I'm off the stand it'll be a different story, and I do need to try with real boots instead of the thin-soled shoes I was wearing. I do still think that a slightly lower, less capable bike that I can be more confident on is probably better in the long run though. People give the Transalp a lot of shit for not being a direct T7 alternative but it seems like a really good fit for my needs and IMO they look sick as fuck with a high fender kit and the '25 comes in way better liveries than the basic bitch flat black ones before.

Well like I said, it's not that I can't do it, I just couldn't do it in a nice easy controllable way that I felt comfortable with when it was packed into a dealership lineup. Maybe it'd be fine once I figured out the trick and got the hang of it but I couldn't really mess around trying. My real concern is that if I have to struggle with it just to ride normally then I'm not gonna want to take it off road and so there'd be no point in owning one.

I guess what I really need to do is find a demo event where I can actually try riding one but they won't even let me touch it right now, since I'm too new of a rider.
