You too man stay safe out there. Iโ€™m already crossing my fingers it doesnโ€™t actually go down but from what I heard... isnโ€™t that law more about sites needing age verification so kids donโ€™t access adult content/websites? If thatโ€™s the case then honestly fuck them kids, sounds like a decent trade-off to me.

>theyโ€™re going to ban any website that has porn, subject to strict age verification
I had thought they were banning motorcycles. Theyโ€™re doing that too, but it takes effect in a few years.
I think you need to withdraw your governmentโ€™s banning license, theyโ€™ve abused the privilege.

Those are like 1% of what CA has though and just doing ACH or GMR over and over again gets boring. All the shit people think of when they say "oh man, if I lived in California I could ride to all these places!" - Big Sur like your pic, Yosemite, Joshua Tree, the Sierras, etc. - are 3+ hours from LA.

Oregon is nice but like that anon says you have to cross mountain ranges to get anywhere, not just CA but also getting from PDX or the Willamette Valley to the coast or anywhere East. I'm in Central Oregon now and it BTFOs CA in how easy it is to access a huge variety of riding locations, everything from desert canyons to lush rainforests to pristine mountain lakes to volcanic wasteland all within an hour or two, but the downside is that it's almost CA expensive and there are 5-6 months a year where riding is basically a lost cause, and if I actually want to go to other developed places (Portland, Eugene, anywhere in CA, etc.) it's a minimum of a 3 hour drive/ride through the mountains.

Apparently mt-07's are. I test rode one yesterday, a '25 model. Nice bikes for sure, but the new msrp is I think almost 9k? Seems a bit steep for what I was looking at considering for 1500 more you can get a premium bike in that weight class. Nothing wrong with it, but didn't really wow me either

It was on me this time.
I pre-ordered the bike assuming it will be just like the previous model years only to fuck myself over. Who knew that new model year might come with new subtle changes in balancing or tuning or whatever.

Also, sometimes test rides restrictions are a result of insuring companies policies that forbid longer rides on demo vehicles.
Don't know the details, but that's what gay retard dealer told me today when I asked him to rent a different bike for a few hours.

Mirrors are blurry, the gearbox is so smooth it's hard to feel gear shifting, the rear suspension is ass and noticeably wobbly at highways speeds, the right side is warm enough to be unpleasant but not hot enough to be concerning, the seat is plush and like any plush seat becomes unbearable on an hour+ ride.
Good bike overall, you can be happy with it if you accept its flaws.

In the southern California area you have palomar, Malibu, Ojai (33), Idyllwild/Pines to Palms, more shit in San Diego county, and of course ACH, Azusa, and GMR. Any of these destinations is doable in a day, including getting back home. You also have Buttonwillow, Apex, Adam's, and Apple Valley Speedway. You're not just stuck on ACH/AFH.

idk, 6 hours of shitty high-stress highway and traffic riding in a day just do do 2-3 hours of fun riding feels like a lot to me. Depends on your bike too though, maybe it's not bad on a comfy tourer or cruiser, 3 hours in a day is about as much as I can take on my dual sport (way less than that if I'm doing 70 on the highway the whole way too) and I'd imagine it's not much fun on a supersport either.

This couldn't even run it's own operating system. I couldn't get far enough in to install Waze. You're right, it was 2GB, I didn't even think to check. My assumption was - if it's available for sale, it must work at at least a very basic, minimal level, which is all I needed. I don't think this phone is technically legal to sell, I found it's not fit for purpose.

Anywho, I cost Bezos some money by destroying all of the packaging for the phone, the phone case, and the motorcycle mount. and I kept the charging cable. then I got to bitch at Sandaljeep via live chat for a few minutes. I also took a stinky shit in the Whole Foods bathroom when I returned it. All in all, the experience was worth my while.

Most of the plates are for the 390 adventure, I have no idea if they will fit probably won't, but it would be easy to make one if you got shop skills.
That pic of the Oxford duffle you can see he is not using the passenger pegs and just tying it down around the tail, so that by itself should be fine for your 390.

Do you guys know much about 4 cylinder bikes? This ignitor issue is killin me. I can swap wires so both coils are good. But only 1 coil is firing so only 2 cylinders are getting spark.

I'm like 98% confident wiring and grounds are good after redoing it all meaning it must be the ignitor at fault? I can't tell if its a bad signal generator or the ignitor itself and I don't think I have the correct tools to test for it. Continuity is good so its not the wires or connectors.

Is there a good/easy way to test the signal generator or the ignitor? Can I just splice into the working wire and have the 1 pushing both coils? I can't really conceptualize if that may result in the engine exploding somehow by forcing all 4 plugs to fire all the time.

It's not 6 hours and the freeways really are not that bad, just get in the HOV lane and set your pace slightly faster than traffic. Splitting quickly becomes second nature. You're usually close to at least ONE nice road, so that's your home one. I forgot 18/38 and Ortega(74) as also pretty nice roads, but you have to pick the right time to not be absolutely bogged down in normgroid traffic. For me, I ride Idyllwild/243 a lot. It takes me maybe 20 minutes to get there. If someone invites me to another of the meme roads, I'll just get an early start and bring my rain jacket to ride home at night. Definitely comfier on a bigger bike with a fat seat and wind protection.

nice edit. The bike is mostly together again, the last thing to get it running should be fixing this spark issue. Is it the ignitor, or is it the signal gen? Ignitors are like $200 used, and I can't seem to find a replacement for a 4cylinder bike as a chinese generic unit.

Going through my 87 CBR1000F today, decided to start with the coolant. Completely dry except at the very bottom, but the hoses were still soft so we'll see what she'll do once I get it to start up. Clutch was dried out in the reservoir, but downstairs it was still wet. Posting pics for anyone that loves old bike gore.

Managed to get this cleaned out with electrical contact cleaner, but the corrosion on the inside of the reservoir is concerning. Considering pulling it completely apart and going at it with whatever kills aluminum oxide.

Unfortunately, the thermostat housing has extensive corrosion and will have to be replaced. Got a new thermostat on order, looking for a water pump as well. Seeing as all the coolant that was left came out brown, I'm pretty sure the impeller is toast.

Me either, but sometimes it's nice to take a break from your project and see just how messed up someone else's is. I've got an entire punchlist for this bike, but given the cost of ownership I'm happy to do the work. The temptation to drop $600 for a new set of plastics is pretty strong.

I think I'm starting to get it why I don't like this bike.
It feels too constricted by speed limits. The engine is extremely lively for a big boy V twin cruiser and you can just feel how it's itching to blast you down the road twice the speed limit.
It's an incredibly frustrating kind of feeling as a small blip of the throttle launches you, but you can't let loose with it because you'll end up losing your license.

It's probably a lot easier out where you are, judging by the roads/locations you mention. LA proper is a lot crazier on the roads, especially the last few years (I noticed a crazy increase in insane shit on the roads just through 2024, like shit I used to see weekly started happening every time I left the house) and everything is a lot further.
I was also really talking about the shit that I think out of state people are really imagining, the big state and national parks or whatever, and those are all far as fuck. I'm looking at trip times from my old house to famous places (and it's almost 11 so you probably wouldn't beat them during the day even with lane splitting) and it's 2:15 to Joshua Tree, 2:50 to Anza-Borrego, 4:08 to Death Valley, almost 6 hours to Big Sur, and that's all taking the boring freeway route. Yeah, there's some fun stuff locally, but if the idea is touring around and seeing the really spectacular stuff CA has to offer it's all multi-day trips if you actually want to enjoy it.

Straight bar I 2 or 4 is the sensible thing to do.
Good luck with the test.

Frens I have a VFR 800 Vtec (c) yo. I always find myself riding with my arms at full stretch, even though I'm not a manlet or anything. Do I just need to practice more or get an adventure dad bike?

One of the best dual sports you can buy, the SM version is super good with all the nice features.

I sold mine but I miss it. They have such neutral steering it feels like you're just flying. Very quiet exhaust. Gauges look really nice. The gearbox is great, it feels very sloppy and loose compared to Japanese bikes but you can always shift without the clutch and it's super easy to rev match

Based, but theyโ€™ve also got a whole different economy around fuel due to sugar ethanol or something iirc
