The 750cc OHV ones, nah, they're fine as they largely use western made parts.
The older 650cc ones, hoo fucking boy, you're in for SOME shit.
The even older 750cc sidevalves on the other hand are okay.
If it's a pre M61 or post 2007 model, you'll be largely fine.

Nah, not really. These (sidevalve in pic related) are originally licensed copies of BMW R71 was is that got improved along the years.
The previous one is a 650cc IMZ Ural OHV design that aside for being a boxer doesn't really have anything to do with the BMW anymore.
