It's an American thing. Combination of wanting to go fast, retarded slow drivers clogging up the fast lane or only lane, and motherfuckers who seriously cannot drive and you just need to get fuck away from them. It's not a joke, they seriously do hand out licenses to anyone in this country.
Also, I'm mentally ill and must be weaving through traffic or I freak out. Not uncoincidental that I am that way and I grew up driving in the state with the worst drivers.

It is Pando Moto Skin UH003 armored base layer shirt. I also have the Skin UH AAA pants.
It's pretty high tech stuff, I should have a video on it. Cooling fabric, skin tight, abrasion protection. It's expensive as fuck for a reason.
Something that you get later into riding when you've settled in a bit.
As far as the bike, go for something bigger. Honestly at your weight, might recommend starting on a 650 parallel twin ninja. A 400 or 500 would be just fine though.

400s and 500s are the same category. It just grew a bit over time because other manufacturers recognised that Honda does it best.
That said, the CB500X is the best in class. I bought mine new because I have too much money, but used ones are ridiculously cheap for what you get.
Way better than the sport-shaped 500s, unless you want something actually sporty like an RC390 or 450SR-S.

>I have Yamaha XJ6 2012 and a throttle handle vibration problem
So I chugged internet recommendations and went to mechanic asking him to check spark plugs and caps (coils), and then do throttle body sync. He looked at me like I was a retard and asked to ride a bike.

After the ride he told me the bike runs fine, as for vibration, it's because my handlebar risers don't have dampeners on them. Then he showed me couple of bikes in his shop and handlebar indeed had some play to it, while mine was mounted rock-solid to the bike. (pic 1)

I checked my risers and while there is some kind of bushing around mounting bolts, it looks like very stiff plastic and not rubber. I use LSL short risers, but they don't change anything aside from using their own bolt. (pic 2)

Apparently there is such a thing as "Handlebar riser bushings damper kit" essentially a thick rubber that goes around riser mounting bolts and interfaces between handlebar and triple clamp so there's a little bit of play to it. (pic 3)

There are also dampeners that go around the bar, under the risers clamp like so https://youtu.be/H7ZE99rFTGE

So now I'll have to suffer until either arrive because nothing is in stock in my shithole.

Anyone know if you can just swap cams/fueling from a 1000 supersport onto a gsx-s1000, and hit 200hp? Or is there more involved and it'd just end up an engine swap job and stuff? I was thinking about getting a newer katana 1000 in a year or 2, and 150hp is like plenty already, but I'm still interested in whether its possible without spending another bike's worth in funds on making it work. I just hate the look of the newer 1000s, and I love the katana. If a fairing swap was possible on the gsxr, I'd do it, but it doesn't look like its doable really

Ecu mapping. The whole top end may be different like the difference between the R1 and the MT10. Would probably be easier to take a GSX and put GSX S body work on it.

I've done a lot of research and apparently, everything on the bike is a problem. Here's my plan with it, over the course of the next year or so:

>GSX-R forks
>MS3 ECU, closed loop with flexfuel sensor (everything is 20% ethanol here and the weather is completely bipolar so EFI and temp monitoring is a must)
>top end and valve inspection
>replace the alternator (it's under 12V idle which isn't gonna work with all the added electronics)

as far as the actual "look" of the bike goes I have no clue. I'll probably just keep it as is until i figure that out

Yeah the electronics aspect of it seems like it wouldn't be too bad, given there's support for 6 cylinder options. Its just a shame that its such a fuss to get original carbs set up and synced. I think it will be better off, honestly. It runs so hot stock, especially if the carbs are leaned out by mistake, it will probably benefit from having overheat protection, etc.

it's just so kids don't mod 150cc scooters and go crazy without a license. it's not like you cant exceed 100kmh on a bike with that engine size. this should also apply to surrons and the like but no-one has figured out what to do with those yet. also here at least the point of sub 200cc is insurance, with the lowest tier being 50-110cc, which is a wierd cutoff and I assume why the honda navi exists so you can have something capable of 80kmh~ with the lowest possible insurance. anyway any large city in canada or the US you can totally use a 50-200cc scooter for getting around especially if you have multiple bikes or a car for highway driving, you can save a shitload on gas using them when you don't need to hit highway speed

I joined my local cities new rider group on social media and went out for a month on the grom, put over 800km on it and just had the random's I rode with bestow upon me their knowledge and to be as critical as possible. I passed my test the same month.

I went with new over used because people beat the absolute PISS out of these bikes and put them away wet.

If you can, buy new, it's getting into fall, your local dealers might be putting the 2025 on discount. I got mine with $500 down, they took off $500 and I got a free helmet. Two years of $200 at 1.9% APR. Insurance in my fuck ass province is shy of $300 a year.

They're the absolute gold standard for simple, cheap transportation. Used is fine, there are lots of bikes out there (at least around here) for almost nothing that were used by uberjeets riders.

Groms are much more expensive, and although you can really feel the difference in quality, they actually ride much worse because of their smaller scooter-sized wheels.

I try not to ride it except if I'm doing track or twisties. That way it's always ready and will last forever for that purpose, even though it has a lot of miles. Big leather is trying to sell you gear you do not actually need
I have put my own human skin to the test in over 10 different accidents to see how bad crashing without gear really is
My most recent crash I hit a sidewalk and slid across 7 of those sidewalk blocks on my right shoulder wearing a hoodie
The hoodie is fine, I have very minor road rash on my elbow, and very minor on my ankle
My toes were protected by my 7 year old vans skateboard shoes
No rash on legs despite wearing shorts
I've also high side front flip into a ditch and climbed out completely unharmed
My worst accident was the first because I didn't know how to handle a crash
Instincts tell your body to throw your hands or legs to catch yourself and so I got road rash on my palms and black swollen ankles also road rash on chest
If you ever crash, keep your arms and legs close to your body if you can and try to land on your shoulder or back

The only times I would recommend a leather suit and boots is if you know you plan on driving dangerously, or if you are riding the freeway

I'm a bit undecided between going the safe way and buying an xmax 300 or vespa gts 310 or go the passionate way and buying a manual bike, like the ktm 390 adv r or the mt-07 y-amt limited to 35kw.
From my experience, I've tried a bit an xmax and loved how easy to handle it was, and I did the a2 exam with a 390 duke and somewhat liked the transmission except for the fact that it was extremely easy to stall if you released the clutch a degree too much.

I think riding with no gear except a helmet is perfectly reasonable up to about 30-35mph which is how fast you can get on a bicycle on a good sized hill. I think if you keep it under 25 - for instance if you live in NYC thatโ€™s the speed limit (although the law there is to wear a helmet) - riding without a helmet is perfectly reasonable.
Does anyone look at the bicyclist and say โ€œah where is his leather jacket, where are his gloves?โ€ Do they look at the mother riding her Dutch bike to the store and say โ€œwhere is her helmet, how irresponsible?โ€
No, but for some reason if you go similar speeds on a motorcycle you are a squid.

For me, I wear a helmet if Iโ€™m gonna go on a road with a speed limit over 25. Practically, this means I go to the grocery store and to Church without a helmet. I wear a jet style helmet and maybe gloves for local street use, and if Iโ€™m going on main arterial route with speed limit up at 45 or 50 I wear a full face, leather jacket, boots and gloves, although I donโ€™t even own โ€œmotorcycle pantsโ€ to be honest.
