I will never understand honda faggots. For the amount they spend on their gay little ricer shitboxes they could buy an actual sports car derived platform form the big three at literally any price point. i see weebs spend tens of thousands more on their FWD pile of garbage that torque steers the world over while my 15K mustang GT with a 5.0 blows the pants of every single one of them. what gives, is it jap derangement?

To some degree. Your mustang has worse build quality and reliability compared to the Si. It also has worse gas mileage.

> that torque steers
The Si outperforms you on any curvy road. The new CTR outperforms the Mach 1 on curvy roads. Full stop.

I am: >>28666082 and heavily considered a new GT or Mach 1 for a bit. At that point the Supra made more sense though.

Sure bud.

I’m not going to go and pretend any Ford is as reliable as a Honda but the 4.6/5.0 were and are stout motors, especially if paired to a manual. Mine is 300K and still going strong.

I don't have much to add, I also forgot the "heavier" part. 500 lbs is a significant difference.

GTs are good cars and great performance (again, especially straight line) for the money.

Depending on gen, they are also arguably good looking, and another argument for >>28666008 (OP)
is that it's probably the best looking Civic gen.
Anonymous No.28666133 [Report] >>28666135

Dem full-throttle straights tho. And holy shit is there a difference in the way the GT pulls. Again, not going to deny the obvious, but the Si is better in the curves and the FWD doesn't hinder it one bit there. The weight does hinder the mustang AND causes more wear and tear on pads, bushings, etc.

I was being a tad inflammatory in my original post. I won’t deny the Si is competent. But I still just can’t understand the fanbase. Maybe it’s because I wasn’t introduced to JDM when young? I simply can’t understand it when cheap GTs, C4s/C5s, camaros etc are plentiful, cheap and easy to mod.
Anonymous No.28666139 [Report]
>>28666135
All good, I don't entirely disagree with you. I got an Si because at the time it seemed reliable and mustangs had the "can't turn reputation". I was also very budget sensitive and wanted to get something I am familiar with that gets ok mpg.

I think a lot of people do have JDM illusions, but I actually don't understand the Civic "scene" at all, other than the gutted old ones (back when the CRX was also used for that). The reason I say that is usually the JDM guys go for initial D cars.

C5 has the boomer rep. C4s I personally still perceive as much less capable, but I literally know nothing about them.

C7 and C7 ZO6 seems like the king of the "can spend 50k" scene atm, topping out the Supra and really anything else, while still having a manual unlike the C8.

Stepping away for a bit, but it's actually nice to talk through it sometimes. I am still not sure why I didn't go with the GT/Mach 1 this time around. Mach 1 got me on the mpg, it was too absurd, but I don't think the GT is that bad, and the new CTRs barely get 26 when driving them like grandpa, so corvette wins there too.
Anonymous No.28666180 [Report]
>>28666135

because the lighter car feels more nimble which makes it more fun. especially when it has objectively a decent suspension/chassis and a lsd.

that's really it. mustangs, camaros, etc didn't actually get gud until the late 2000s and even then you needed to tick off the "track spec" package (1le, track pack, pp1/pp2) that had the brakes/suspension to handle 410-430hp in a 3600-4000lb car otherwise it felt like a lazy understeering boat that wouldnt cooperate if you went into a turn too fast

the civics usually end up as some <30 y/o's only car too where they will prefer the other benefits (reliability, mpg, space). that gen of civic si was compared to the integra type r when it was new.

Fwiw my poor roomate pays all his money to alimony because he's dumb like most poors and has a honda civic early 2000s and a gen 1 crv and they always have stuff broken or leaking all over the driveway. They really aren't more reliable than my c5 or a german car that was maintened and then there's the cringe of him always telling me how fast his 140hp civic is because it's got "b-series with vtec" when my 5000lb cayenne S pulls on it like nothing, all delusional Honda fags basically have trickle down speed in their head because some guy on youtube spend 50k building an AWD turbo car that now shares 0 components except the shell from the car they have lol.

I think the problem with them is that they cap hard if you don't want to put wide racing slicks on the front and it IS diminishing returns compared to any RWD car e.g. >>28666099 (I am the guy who was talking to him originally).

If the perspective is performance, it kind of caps out at 50 more hp without becoming entirely what it's not, whereas the mustang can probably take 500hp and be fine.

Both are also rust buckets at this point, so you are constantly maintaining rust and little shit. That doesn't take away from the original merit of the car, but more of a consideration if you get one now and use it for anything other than a stock commuter.

I don't even know what you are saying anymore. Here is my clear point: The 2009 Civic Si (gen pictured in OP) has good MPG for a sporty car as evidenced by being far better than the Mustang GT, for example.

There is now whataboutism here. Your only point is that I exaggerated with 34 mpg from personal experience and non-official sources. That's correct, I did exaggerate when compared to official sources.

29 highway is still very good mpg for the era and far better than sporty competitors.

mixed bag, just understand the 5.0s have the same issue down to ford replacing transmissions on cars under warranty just like honda.

i think the clutches have a factor (lockout/grinding caused by clutch that's slow to release).

i like both but i don't think i would spend $50k on a ctr, they're nice cars but $50k buys you a lot of other cars. consider a 2022+ wrx with a bunch of suspension mods for half the money. i think its actually a good looking car as long as you don't do blue, saw that exact orange irl at a dealer and liked it.

GAY and also FUCKING slow. You could go buy a nice F82 M4 for the same price and have a car built to put power to the rear wheels. You have to throw 2 bar of boost at it just to get over 400 to the wheels meanwhile my 7L makes more than that and still gets similar highway MPG because it isnt being bogged down by a shitty AWD system and a huge front end.

That's assuming your only criteria is performance / having an /o/ instagram. The reality is that $60,000 is already pushing it for the upper middle class without an inheritance and pushing it hard.

Yes, you can maybe get an M2/3/4 for a similar price. Or an RS3/5. Etc. You are going to pay far, far more in depreciation and service costs. But sure, you do all your own work - that's great, but even the parts make a huge difference. Hell, parts on a CTR are at a huge premium. Just compared pads / rotors on an Si vs CTR (which you won't because you are a shitty troll).
