All good, I don't entirely disagree with you. I got an Si because at the time it seemed reliable and mustangs had the "can't turn reputation". I was also very budget sensitive and wanted to get something I am familiar with that gets ok mpg.
I think a lot of people do have JDM illusions, but I actually don't understand the Civic "scene" at all, other than the gutted old ones (back when the CRX was also used for that). The reason I say that is usually the JDM guys go for initial D cars.
C5 has the boomer rep. C4s I personally still perceive as much less capable, but I literally know nothing about them.
C7 and C7 ZO6 seems like the king of the "can spend 50k" scene atm, topping out the Supra and really anything else, while still having a manual unlike the C8.
Stepping away for a bit, but it's actually nice to talk through it sometimes. I am still not sure why I didn't go with the GT/Mach 1 this time around. Mach 1 got me on the mpg, it was too absurd, but I don't think the GT is that bad, and the new CTRs barely get 26 when driving them like grandpa, so corvette wins there too.
