Sarmats and Scythian often interacted with each-other, traded, and intersex married/had families, etc., that's why many people mistake them or unable to distinguish.
Scythian is more of a semi-nomadic tribeseman, while Sarmats were semi-nomadic, but also often stayed in the same place for very long periods of time (sometimes several decades straight). Scythian always traveled and didn't stay anywhere for long.
