In order to fight a protracted war the US has to fix its arms production. Right now the US is having trouble increasing its production of certain interceptor missiles because the rocket motors they use are produced overseas and the MIC has to order them in advance and the factories making them can't just increase production without investing in more capacity and they won't do that without long term contracts for more units.

New technologies will be tested and some battle groups will get wiped out due to hypersonics. Defense will be impossible for either side.
