if you select general that will filter all subjects, comments and any post that has the word
you need to type what you want to filter like so

and then put an "i" after it.
if you filter

it will only filter the words if the case matches exactly
if you filter

It's not just monitored, the letter agencies literally save every bit of internet traffic to their servers. I can't remember the exact number, but petabytes or exabytes every year. All of it can be easily correlated to IP addresses. Anything that is encrypted can be targeted and brute-forced revealed by their supercomputers if they really want to never mind quantum computers that will make the encryption everyone thought was unhackable with even a huge array of supercomputers, a trivial matter.

Unless you're a newfag, there's almost no reason to use /pol/ besides checking /chug/ when there's major military happenings, or just checking once or twice a day for a thread whose OP's subject seems interesting.
Otherwise, your time would be much better spent reading books, enjoying a game/anime, or browsing other boards or chans. A couple years ago I found a chan that had a train board, and it had three hundred posts a day, was quite the sight lol.
Ever since the bot campaign has increased on specific 4chan boards, they've become unusable for anything that isn't shitposting. In /pol/'s case, effortposting is ignored, redpill threads are quickly archived, and anything in between receives a 3 day ban so it can't be appealed. /biz/ also suffer from the same, but the "moderation" is much more active.
Nowadays Discord is the closest thing you can have to a good community but no way good anons would participate.
