I got married and had a son. As soon as my son was born it was like the bitch flipped a switch in her brain. She pulled the pin on the fat grenade and stopped doing anything around the house. Telling her fat ass to contribute just had her throw accusations of abuse at me (I at first just wanted to help as I thought she had post partem depression, but after two years something had to change). I was only sleeping 3-4 hours a night, working full time, doing the laundry, dishes, shopping, childcare and cooking. It’s the most stable vehicle in which to start and have a family. Yes but it takes effort on both parts. Maybe my wife and I are an exceptional case but we've always agreed that both parties need to commit effort. Over the years she has become an S-tier support unit to me and I do the same for her. We know each other well and try to find ways to make things easier for each other.
There are still many times where I get the feeling you describe but it's certainly not even most of the time. I wouldnt bother if it was. It's mostly just that leadership comes at the cost of having to lead. Women do tend to do that but unironically your ability to show them the way out gets a lot of respect.
