The world is full of people now. Think of it this way. Out of all the time periods that you could've been born in, it's statistically rather likely that you'd have been born around this time. Because that's about 100-something years into the process of globalized industrialization where the world population exploded to exponential levels never seen before. You wouldn't have existed without this unnatural industrial matrix.
Think of a cow who lives its life in a factory farm before being sent to the slaughterhouse. If the cow had the ability to ponder hypotheticals, it might see glimpses of the outside world, and think to itself, "if only I had been born outside of this farm, I would be free to roam the grass and I wouldn't be in here suffering." But the cow would have never been bred into existence in the first place if it weren't for the factory. It was brought into this world to be a resource, and it's completely, utterly at the mercy of its owners. The resource just has to absorb whatever suffering the universe throws at it. And for many of them, it can be a cruel existence.
In a way, we're kind of the same... we were bred to be workers for this unnatural system, without which we never would have existed in the first place. Our happiness and our flourishing was never the point. The point is to keep the industries going so that money can keep being made, by somebody. The people making the money don't really care about you, and in some ways, they're just as much of a slave to the system as everybody else. Basically Ted Kaczynski and the luddites were right and technology is demonic and the great filter of humanity
