/uhg/ often claims that Russians envy the west. But really, what's there to envy? Pride parades? Women's rights? Niggers everywhere?

Russians are very happy with their lives, and they thank their lucky stars every day that they were born where they were. In fact, they're as happy as they've ever been.

Do you think maybe that's why Russians don't feel the need to spam gore and post delusional fantasies all the time like you do?

23.08.2025 update.

There will be an update this evening from the General Staff regarding our advances near Tolstoi, just in time for Independence Day.

There are a number of interesting news items, so let’s start with the Flamingo missile.
It is produced by a private company, likely with major help from Germany.
They have announced that they can now produce one Flamingo per day, and by the end of the year they will reach mass production of seven per day.

Think about this: one per day gives on average 30 missiles per month.
This means we are matching the Ruzzians’ own estimated production.
When we produce seven per day, that’s 210 per month with a total explosive yield of 231,000 kg of TNT.
These are enormous amounts and will wipe out all significant Ruzzian refineries and oil/gas infrastructure.

We should also add in the production of our long-range drones, which now account for 60% of all the damage we inflict on Ruzzian facilities.
The current figure is reportedly 100 per day.

After 3.5 years of Ruzzian superiority, the pendulum is now swinging decisively in our favor in missile capacity (we should count long-range drones as missiles).
Since the Ruzzians’ air defenses have been decimated as they have, the Ruzzian missile defense now leaks like a sieve.
If our attacks have already caused fuel shortages, what will happen when our Flamingos start operating on a daily basis?

Let’s look at more of the equipment we have at the frontlines, especially Pokrovsk.
We should mention our transport and machine-gun robots—robots that have developed just as quickly and strongly as our drones.
It is no longer a secret, so I can reveal that we tested defenses using only robots, and we held these lines without problem despite Ruzzian attacks.

What types of drones do we have?
>“Normal” FPV kamikaze drones
>FPVs designed to shoot down Ruzzian fiber-optic and standard FPV drones
>FPVs that drop bombs and return
>Fiber-optic drones
>Heavy drones carrying payloads from 10–60 kg
>Vampire
>Kashan

Regarding production of these drones: our capacity increases month by month, while the Ruzzian capacity decreases due to financing problems and factories going bankrupt.

Mikael and I saw during our latest frontline trip signs that Ruzzian drones have decreased in number.
For example, when a company commander and three men could walk 5 km across open ground and back without a single Ruzzian drone attack.

The Ruzzian economy is also hitting recruitment hard, which has forced contract soldiers whose terms have expired to remain at the front.
Ruzzian Telegram channels write openly about this, and a mass desertion of these soldiers is expected.

There is also information that the Ruzzian elite has started moving its money out of Ruzzia through cryptocurrency transactions.
Intermediaries for these transfers are in Georgia and Kazakhstan.
Family members of the elite are also leaving abroad in greater numbers.

Finally, I want to highlight the economic development of Ukraine. Our economy is growing by 2.1% in 2025.
This is a normal figure for a country at peace.
That a country at war can grow its economy by 2.1% is exceptional.

As I have repeated many times: war is a matter of resources and how long you can sustain them.
We now see the results of the Ukrainian war strategy: delay and thin out at the frontlines, develop resources to hit hard deep behind enemy lines.
When the enemy’s resources are sufficiently weakened, the frontlines begin to move.
At that point, we must have manpower to deploy (we still have the 18–24 age group untouched).
the Ruzzians are now trying to bring in Africans and Asians to fill their gaps with sky-high signing bonuses.

So to those who claim Ukraine is losing by pointing to small advances visible on the map—think again.

>The ceasefire has simply not happened yet.
Yes, of course, one day the war will end and there will be some sort of ceasefire. But that obviously wasn't what you were talking about. Deny it all you want, you were still obviously talking about a ceasefire in the near future -- which didn't happen.

>It is also too soon to tell if the Alaska-Washington series of meetings is over, or simply momentarily put on pause.
>You think in days and weeks, I think in months and years.
I quote again:
>we’re going to see a series of other meetings in the coming weeks.
You spoke about weeks.

>Also, pressuring Ukraine and placating Russia was a morally questionable but realistically sensible move.
A move which you did not predict. In fact you predicted the opposite. That's why you're an idiot, that's what I'm criticizing. Don't deflect to defending what Trump did; this is solely about your failure to predict it, not about his decisions.

>Let me remind you that you went from «Trump will give half of Ukraine to Putin» to «Trump hasn’t openly rejected the idea of Russia taking the remaining 20% of Donetsk oblast». Half of you even predicted a Kamala win.
First of all, I predicted neither of these. Secondly, the failure of others do not in any way lessens your own failure. Your predictions are not generally true, they're laughably bad.

Evening update 23.08.2025 – frontlines

I have previously informed that our forces have launched an offensive campaign—not a major one yet, but several smaller ones.
We have again begun counterattacks at a new location, at the border of Kharkiv Oblast and Donbas Oblast.
The place is about 25 km north of Lyman, and we have already liberated Novomykhailivka and Hrekivka.
During the day our forces advanced 2 km and continue right now.
The strategy is sound, as we are breaking through the Ruzzian line and can strike the Ruzzian units in the area from the rear.

I am somewhat surprised by the success here, since the Ruzzians had held the advantage until now due to their advances at Yampolivka.
But our attack vector could place the Ruzzian tank brigade and artillery regiment in a precarious situation, as it will cut off their supply.

At Rodynske, the Ruzzians committed all reserves for a new attack toward Dobropillia, but they changed direction.
Now they are moving east of the river toward Shakove–Volodymyrivka.
I don’t understand the logic of this tactic.
If they intend to bypass the areas they lost and then hook back toward Dobropillia, it is a waste of resources—especially since our drone units are operating at full capacity in this area.
The more logical move would have been to take Rodynske in order to even have a chance to threaten Myrnohrad.

4) between the water ration coupons and petrol ration coupons and soon electrical ration coupons come winter the Zigger colonists in Crimea have bigger issues to deal with then whether they can go to the beach unlike in 2024. And its only going to get worse

At Pokrovsk, the Ruzzians have not attacked for some time.
Instead, they are terrorizing our civilian population with looting, rape, and murder.
Our units tracked down the perpetrators and captured them (as shown in the video I shared in my last post).
My personal opinion on what should be done with them is well described by the Finnish saying: “Saunan takana on tilaa” (“There is room behind the sauna”).

Western media have been unusually quiet about Sumy after being so sure that the Ruzzians would break through there.
Our counterattacks continue, and we are taking position after position from the Ruzzians.

That leaves Zaporizhzhia, where the Ruzzians have concentrated most of their vehicles.
They are targeting Richne in order to create a springboard toward the city of Zaporizhzhia itself.
Right now, battles are ongoing in Kamianske, which frequently changes hands.
At present, the Ruzzians hold it. We see that our forces are returning to the tactic of delay and attrition here.
The enemy still has about 15 km to reach our main defensive line, so they will bleed resources before they get there.

Update 24.08.2025

Since today is Ukraine’s Independence Day, I will focus on a topic other than the frontlines, although we have again seen successes in the past 24 hours.

Today, I want to give you some information about Ukraine’s number one freedom fighter of all time, STEPAN BANDERA.
Stepan’s reputation has been constantly defamed by Soviet propagandists and, today, by Putin and his pack.
Imagine if the Soviets and today’s Russia had defamed C.G. Mannerheim in the same way they did Bandera—most people unfamiliar with the subject would consider Mannerheim a fascist.
The red-and-black flag, known popularly as the Bandera flag, symbolizes Ukrainian blood in Ukrainian soil.

The photo in today’s update
>not included
represents what has become important to me over the last 3.5 years.
Mannerheim and Finland’s War Veterans’ Association have always been in my memory from childhood, out of respect for those who kept my own homeland free and democratic.
The Ukrainian flag, signed by General Zaluzhnyi, gives me strength to keep fighting, and the portrait of Bandera reminds me of the evil the Russians will unleash in Ukraine if we do not stop them.
The knife, handmade in Finland, has been my lucky charm since day one of the Russian invasion.
The emblem, made from shell casings embedded in oak wood, shows me that we must be strong and ready to take up arms to keep evil away from Ukraine and Europe.
The Cossack club and grenade casing are gifts I have received and hold special personal significance.

>Bandera – From controversial freedom fighter to symbol of resistance
During the Euromaidan protests in 2013, Stepan Bandera gained new symbolic value.
According to historian Serhiy Yekelchyk, he became an icon of resistance against the corrupt and Russia-aligned regime—far removed from the real Bandera, who once advocated exclusive ethno-nationalism.

Today, Bandera plays a key role in Russian propaganda to justify the invasion of Ukraine.
In his May 9 speech, Vladimir Putin said the confrontation with “Nazis and Banderites,” allegedly supported by the U.S. and its allies, was inevitable.
But who was Stepan Bandera, and who were his followers, the Banderites?
Ukrainian journalist Mariana Tsymbaliuk interviewed Yaroslav Korytchuk, historian and director of the Stepan Bandera Museum in Ivano-Frankivsk, who provides a different picture than what Kremlin propaganda spreads.

>Resistance against two dictatorships
“The Banderites were primarily Western Ukrainians who, in the mid-20th century, fought against two totalitarian regimes: the Nazis and the Communists,” explains Korytchuk.
Their struggle was organized through the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists (OUN) and its armed branch, the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (UPA).
In addition to fighting militarily, they also fought for the Ukrainian language, education, and culture. Stepan Bandera was the movement’s ideologist.
He advocated independent struggle, organized armed underground units, and strove for Ukrainian independence—regardless of foreign support.

>A reign of terror for Soviets and Nazis
The Banderites had a reputation for brutality—sometimes used as scare propaganda, but also based in reality.
“UPA killed thousands of Nazis and members of the Soviet security service NKVD.
For 18 years, they fought against the world’s two largest dictatorships—without state support or weapons deliveries.
They were ruthless, but they defended their country,” says Korytchuk.

>Why did Bandera divide Ukraine?
Bandera has long been a controversial figure in Ukraine.
Much of it has to do with geography and history.
“The liberation movement mainly operated in Western Ukraine, where the landscape of mountains and forests favored partisans.
In the east, there was no similar struggle, and people there had never had direct contact with the movement,” says Korytchuk.

Furthermore, Eastern Ukraine was already occupied by the Soviets in 1919, while the west was annexed in 1939.
This gave the Soviets more time to shape people’s worldview—including the image of Bandera as an enemy.

>Putin’s goal: Divide Ukraine
Korytchuk believes Russia’s ongoing demonization of Bandera has a clear purpose:
“Putin wants to create a split between east and west Ukraine. By using Soviet narratives, he tries to make eastern Ukrainians see Russia as a savior from the ‘Nazi Banderites.’ In reality, it is exactly the opposite.”
For many Ukrainians, Bandera has become a symbol of resilience and independence.
Putin’s attempts to smear him show just how threatening this symbol is to the Kremlin.

During the war, perceptions of Bandera have changed—not least in eastern Ukraine.
“Russian propaganda began calling all Ukrainians ‘Banderites,’ regardless of origin. This sparked curiosity. Many began investigating who Bandera really was and discovered a completely different history than what they had been told,” says Korytchuk.

According to surveys from the NGO Rating, 47% of Ukrainians had a positive view of Bandera in 2018. By 2021, the figure was almost 80%.
“People realized that the UPA fought against the evil of the Soviet Union—and that Russia today uses the same methods: murder, rape, torture, deportations, and cultural destruction. Those who remember the Soviet era say the pattern is identical.”

>A life of struggle—and adversity
Korytchuk is particularly impressed by Bandera’s life story.
“He grew up in a religious family and was arrested at 17. He was sentenced to death, imprisoned, and spent a total of ten years in prison and concentration camps. But nothing broke his will. After his release, he continued the fight for a free Ukraine, despite seven assassination attempts by the Soviets. He was murdered by a KGB agent at age 50.”

>How did they sustain the struggle?
Without state funding, the UPA built its resistance on popular support.
“The idea of independence mobilized people. Farmers provided food, shelter, clothing, information, and medicine to the soldiers. A regular villager was as important as an armed rebel,” says Korytchuk.
Although the Soviets eventually crushed the movement, they could not erase its memory.
Ukraine today continues the struggle that the Banderites began generations ago.

The infuriatingly mirthful thing about this >muh chilluns tactic is that the same fucking people that are in a panic about imagined homo-pedos will be the ones shielding real pedos and real systems and state of affairs that actually, directly, measurably lead to children being raped
I'm not even going to start discussing how sexualization is a general thing in modern society that these same moral-panic karens will themselves engage in readily.
Imagine what effect the current culture and depictions have on little girls?
I sincerely think that is going to be worse than seeing a few women-women or men-men kissing and holding hands in public.
Add to that, that sexual preference isn't something you can change with something as superficial as pride parades lmao.

Trump going for a different strategy before aligning with what I had originally predicted was indeed a surprise for me, but I acknowledged that: I simply underestimated how close Trump thinks a confrontation with China is.
>You spoke about weeks
The Alaska summit happened 9 days ago. Who’s to say another meeting won’t be announced next week? Or the one after that? Your near-sightedness is outright comical.
By the way, what are your predictions? Out of fear, you don’t make any. You wait for things to happen, and then you write your text walls grumbling about muh oligarchy, muh drumpf.
We’re not the same, you and I, in terms of human worth. That’s why you have to resort to these little semantic plays to «prove» me wrong. Trump will end this war, one way or another, and you will seethe about it.

The war will end in 2025-2026 with a negotiated peace due to economic stress placed on Russia. Ukrainian concessions will focus mainly on optics so that Russia can sell it as win domestically. On the other hand though Crimea will almost certainly remain under Russian rule (caveat: there might be something negotiated about independence/joint administration/ referendum -- but in reality it will still be heavily under Russian influence). Russia will not get the full four oblasts, but likely Ukraine won't either.

Once he turns on Putin completely which he will do, it will be time to unleash Hell!

>“Russian propaganda began calling all Ukrainians ‘Banderites,’ regardless of origin. This sparked curiosity. Many began investigating who Bandera really was and discovered a completely different history than what they had been told,” says Korytchuk.
And honestly, I think this was a complete mistake by going along russian propaganda and embracing the "banderite" monicker

I mean, the director of the Bandera museum can spin his heroic narrative as much as he can, but in the end he was a deeply flawed character, and ultimately a loser in each and every political endevour he took up
I mean, it's the same as the cult around Khmelnytsky, who started the uprising because of personal reasons, and in the end was the person who humbled himself before the Muscovite tsar, starting this whole mess of "brotherly people being one and unseparable for forever"

Zelenskyy holds firm against Trump's peace proposals, Turkish media reports

Turkish newspaper Sabah has characterized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy as taking an "increasingly uncompromising position" in peace negotiations, alleging he has rejected proposals from U.S. President Donald Trump, including refusing to repeal laws that restrict the use of the Russian language.
The report contrasts Zelenskyy's stance with that of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who it claims has signaled "flexibility" and a willingness to make concessions. This characterization comes in the wake of a series of high-level diplomatic meetings aimed at ending the war.
Recent peace initiatives, heavily driven by the Trump administration, have centered on proposals that would involve significant territorial concessions from Ukraine. President Trump has publicly stated that Ukraine should abandon its ambitions to reclaim Crimea or join NATO. Reports from The Washington Post and other outlets have suggested that Trump's plan involves Ukraine ceding the entirety of the Donbas region in exchange for a peace deal.
President Zelenskyy has publicly and firmly rejected any proposal involving the surrender of Ukrainian territory, stating that Ukraine's constitution defines its borders and no leader has the authority to cede land to an occupier. His administration has insisted that any peace talks must include Ukraine and that Putin should not be "rewarded" for the invasion. The Ukrainian leader has emphasized achieving "peace through strength" and has welcomed what he calls President Trump's "focus on saving lives and stopping this horrific war."

Ukrainian suspect in Nord Stream bombing denies involvement, cites military service

A Ukrainian man arrested in Italy in connection with the 2022 sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines has denied any involvement, stating he was serving in the Ukrainian Armed Forces at the time of the explosions.
Serhii Kuznietsov, 49, was detained by Italian police in the Rimini area on Wednesday night while on vacation with his family, based on a European Arrest Warrant issued by Germany's Federal Prosecutor's Office. German authorities allege Kuznietsov was a coordinator for the commando team that used the sailing yacht Andromeda to place explosives on the pipelines in the Baltic Sea.
During a court hearing in Bologna, Kuznietsov refused to consent to his extradition to Germany, telling the court he was in Ukraine when the attack occurred and that he served as a unit commander in the armed forces until December 2023. An Italian court of appeals has characterized the charges as "an act of terrorism with deadly devices."
The arrest has drawn international attention, prompting Russia to call for a UN Security Council meeting to address what it calls delays in the German investigation. Kuznietsov remains in custody pending a decision on his extradition, scheduled for September 3.

Civilian wounded in Ukrainian drone attack on Russian border town, official says

At least one civilian was wounded after a series of Ukrainian drone strikes targeted the Russian border town of Rylsk in the Kursk region, the acting regional governor, Alexander Khinshtein, said on Sunday.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Khinshtein reported that a 38-year-old man suffered a shrapnel wound to his leg and has received medical assistance. He added that the attack damaged several residential buildings in the town. Later reports indicated a second person, a 43-year-old man, was hospitalized in a moderate condition, and that at least 12 houses were damaged.
The official urged residents to heed air raid sirens and take shelter, emphasizing that "human life is the most valuable thing." The Kursk region, which directly borders Ukraine, has been a frequent target of cross-border shelling and drone attacks throughout the war. The latest strikes occurred on the same day as a wider drone assault that also reportedly targeted the nearby Kursk Nuclear Power Plant.

Revealing the Flamingo now does force Russia to move its limited heavy aa and relieve pressure closer to the front be overstretching its aa whilst also making it easier for targetting Russian refineries and gas infrastructure and logistics and such nearer Ukraine as they have to also sent some aa assets to cover areas that were previously deemed safe from ukro-strikes. This is the 21st century version of the ‘fleet in being’ strategy where simply having a major military tool forces an enemy to act as if it could be used at any moment. Also the possibility that Ukraine wants to see how Russian long range radar reacts to the situation and locate and destroy them first like what’s been done in Crimea to clear the way for the Flamingos to be actually used

Today I listened the french radio speaking about ukroindependance day.
As usual we have been attacked since 2014 blah blah, evil Russia kill civies....

But despite the propaganda, there also was a part about how the ukrop army refused to give information about dissapeared UAF soldiers. The association of mothers of soldiers are now 10 000 !

Situation is grim if globohomo radio admit it.

They spent years painting themselves in a corner trying to insist Zelensky wasn’t able to sign treaties with Russia only to be forced to admit that they don’t have a choice and have to meet with him lmao. Easy to hold elections when you just gun down, blow up or poison whoever is a risk to your position.
Your arguments don't even rank as jokes.

The ‘SMO’ is a Russian construct - every Ukrainian government document related to this conflict refers to it as a war Jeet. Here’s an example just from today of an official speech transcript.

Also clear you’re a Jeet if you actually believe Russia has real elections lmao. How much RT kool-aid have you drunk?

I don't follow the war closly, at least for a while, and only read up on some of the meetings that Trump had with Putin and Zelensky/EU the other day.
I wanted to ask, what is the strategy right now? I saw Zelensky give his independence day speech and they will never give up their land. So what is the plan right now? It seems like every Western leader is asking for "peace", whatever that means. And I basically know Russia's supposed strategy of defend until Ukraine runs out of people.

tldr What's Ukraine's current strategy to end the war?

Canada seems to be the latest country to join the PURL scheme. Funny how Carney led the Kyiv meeting announcing a C$1billion of domestic canadian arms to be sent to ukraine and get those headlines only to quietly admit that Canada doesn’t have enough sovereign capacity after most of the major meeting events are over. Good for Ukraine though cause it means two large packages of aid
