Basically top left is important. The foreskin is a thin piece of meaty tissue with skin on the outside (colored orange) and also with skin on the inside (colored pink). The outer skin of the foreskin connects to the shaft skin. I marked in black where it's amputated. What Eric Clopper argues in his presentation seems much more plausible to me: that circumcision was always mutilating the penis, and this took the place of other forms of blood sacrifice practiced in the area.

If (or rather, when) it was incorporated into an ancient mind control / group cohesion system then all prior records or source material would have been altered and reinterpreted to suit it. It's insane but once you dig into it you realize often there's no anesthesia used and if it's done with, it's a weak bullshit variant. Some the tissue grown is whatever cells are dividing. If you have cells from the frenulum for example, you are creating more of them. If you have cells from inner foreskin, you're creating more of those. This is true of nerves as well. You are growing new nerves, not stretching existing nerves over a wider area.
