This is so awesome. The elites, or just Putin and Trump, are preparing the world for the warming of the Arctic.

- We will have resorts on either end of the Bering Straight
- Russia is opening up the trans-Arctic shipping lanes
- Greenland will be ours

ok, pretend that a tunnel here would only cost 8 billion dollars LMAO, just pretend.

now what does the tunnel connect to? There's nothing on either side of the bering strait. It's just inuit villages with a couple hundred people scattered around with little to no roads, if any connecting any of the settlements.

This means you need to spend probably tens of billions more just to build roads, rail, more tunnels through mountains since the entire region is heavily mountainous and maintain all of those roads, tunnels and bridges in the permafrost, yeah that's right you can't just build roads easily up there because of the permafrost. You can't just lay asphalt down.

Building a bridge makes more sense than a tunnel anyways, the strait is not deep and a tunnel brings far more challenges than a bridge, though it would be a massively long bridge and the supports would need to be over 100 feet in depth in some locations.

8 billion is laughable, just absolutely fantasy tier bullshit. You're looking at hundreds of billions of dollars minimum to built either a bridge or tunnel and rail / road link PLUS all of the infrastructure you now need to build on BOTH SIDES of the strait over terrain that is permafrost, where you can't even work on anything for over half the year because it's too cold and there's no infrastructure existing up there for workers, plus going up mountains and tunnelling through them on both sides for thousands of miles since there's no roads or infrastructure to get to the actual areas where it exists already.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but these proposals are completely delusional and unrealistic.

The logic behind is that in the coming decades southern oceans will become unnavigable due to entities like Houthis, ISIS, narco cartels and Ukraine getting their hands on navy drones and you loosing your fleet to Iranian hypersonic missiles. Northern route will become practically the only safe way to deliver shit from Asia to Europe and North America and USA and Russia having an infrastructure object in Bering strait makes it possible to close it down on the consensus of the two countries, because right now, that would be a naval blockade and the declaration of war against the whole world, but if there is a tunnel, you can just say that it broke, barricade it with some construction and cargo vessels and block China, India, EU and anyone else from the only safe trade route in the world.

I think it's bullshit though and sufficiently effective countermeasures against drones will be discovered to make global navigation still doable so Northern route won't be that important. It may be important for China, however, if the US-China beef gets real and that's why Trump may still be interested in it.

There’s no infrastructure in the middle of the ocean either, but that doesn’t prevent trade from occurring. You could view the wasteland as sort of like oceans on either side where you have to go deeper into the interior on either end to find your first viable infrastructure. This would only work as a high speed rail system, though realistically. There could be parallel service roads too, but if you break down in the world middle of the wilderness you are on your own.

They obviously just realized a tunnel is much much more viable and all around better then some massive icy windswept impossible to maintain bridge that would just be a pain in the ass overall.

Look to Norway's tunnel project. Bridges are not the better option in such a harsh environment.

Imagine emergency response on this theoretical bridge? Fucking nonexistent, people would break down and die on the bridge weekly. A tunnel though? You can make emergency response work in that sealed environment.

It's perfectly good land for general industry, mining towns like you mention, it's especially great for housing development as long as the houses are built well and to Arctic conditions along with being properly maintained.

The land for you specifically is terrible for food economy BUT if that area were to be relieved by a massive trade route from America that wouldn't be much of a problem anymore, you just wouldn't be doing any farming is all.

All around it could revitalize both our nations industry a bit and could create a housing boom/heavy colonization of the Arctic region by predominantly white Russians and white Americans who see the Arctic as a acceptable place to live.

Chinks if they are hired may build the tunnel more or less cheaply. Still the project is entirely uneconomical but it is in line with current Russian pivot to the East. For Russia trade and relations with Europe are finished, it will be decades before euros allow them to trade again and Russian themselves may not want to sell them cheap energy to reindustrialise. Meanwhile in the East there are vast territories, resources, neighbors with huge economies. What is lacking are people and infrastructure. Trading just with chinks and gooks would be boring but if the US is added the things will be much more interesting. I wouldn't be surprised if Russians move their capital to Siberia or Far East in some time.

they probably already have.. they are keeping it private and only military and certain individuals allowed to use them. they make statements like that because they want retards tax payers to pay for it 2nd time. there are rumors among mason circles for a very long time that there are tunnels all over connecting every part of the world, even movie THEY LIVE addressed it

Are there rail lines all the way up to Chukotka? As far as I can tell you'd need at least 3000km of railroad to connect it to the Trans Siberian Railway, and another thousand kilometers of rail line on the Alaska side to connect it to the rail system in North America. That's a whole lot of money the Government could be giving to Israel, I don't think they'll do it.

Not a problem, there is going to be a natural development of Eastern part of Russia because of pivoting to Asia and new gas pipelines.

That can happen with a tippe-top and seems to have happened in the past. But with the current orbit of the Moon it would be completely impossibly. It is a counterweight. Legends all over the world speak of the arrivalbof the Moon in ancient times and repeated calendar reform.

Good point. The Alaskan part of making the rail link might be more difficult, since Alaska is very mountainous and you'd need to do a lot of tunneling, and unfortunately American rail industry has been heavily neglected for decades, but I love the idea of being able to hop on a sleeper car and just take a train to Russia. I know it'd mostly be for freight, but the idea is just so cozy.

that would cost significantly more than $8bn. the channel tunnel cost $14bn in 1994 and already had significant infrastructure at each end. the chunnel is 30 miles long and the beiring strait is 55 miles, at either end of which is fuck all but ice and shacks.

whatever it costs, i'm sure putin and trump would be able to skim at least 1bn each, which would make it highly attractive to donald
