Why are they confident while knowing absolutely fucking nothing but a few route memorized factoids?

I was looking up this movie Dark Water from 2005 (jap original from 2002). The trailer was filled with comments about how the movie was much spookier once you knew the real life event it was based on. Countless comments about this and replies about how spooky this coincidence is.
The issue? They were all saying it was based on the Eliza Lam death incident which happened in 2013.....hundreds of people saw this factoid and were fascinated by it but NOT ONE FUCKING REPLY pointed out the event they claimed the movie was based on happened over a decade after it released.

I see normies making absolutely absurd mistakes like this on a near daily basis and yes it skews left because leftists are inherently less likely to question shit.
