scratch that, not even 1% of the data could be transferred wirelessly.

You'd be better off making a physical copy and mailing it.

>Total usable radio spectrum (from ~30 MHz to ~300 GHz) is about ~270 GHz wide, but only a fraction is allocated for data.

>If each 5G link uses ~1 GHz of bandwidth, you’d need 25 THz of spectrum (!) — 100× more than all available radio spectrum on Earth.

>So no, it’s not physically possible to transmit all that cable data wirelessly through Earth’s atmosphere — even ignoring issues of interference, distance, and directionality.

There are no cables involved with starlink. They use radio waves and lasers to transmit data. The only cables involved are the pre existing ones on earth to connect to the World Wide Web. You could easily get rid of all cables and replace them with lasers that beam the data across the earth, that’s literally just what fiber optic is except the light goes through a glass tube.

You’re retarded. There are no cables involved with starlink. The only reason it uses cables is because it’s forced to so that it can use the internet which was built on cables. You could easily make your own starlink network that uses no cables at all.
>>520194911
There is no difference between using fiber optic cable and just beaming the laser directly. In this video they connect two buildings using a laser and a dish. It can be done and you can make a cableless internet https://youtu.be/e9P_R-ApD-g

Point taken, but radio waves are a category defined by wavelength/frequency, like gamma waves, microwaves, etc, so it's unlikely that it will be renamed. Now, telegraph, that's a word not used much (aside from the verb form).

You are genuinely retard beyond belief. Starlink doesn’t need cables, they’re forced to use it because they live in a cable based society. If starlink wanted to split off from the internet and make their own cableless network they could do it

Fiber optic cables also lose signal and are required to go through repeaters or amplifiers. You can still do it and it has been done
Anonymous (ID: Hx5W5HUZ) Canada No.520196927 [Report]

Lasers lose cohesion over distance. Fiberoptic cables retain cohesion over distance. Lasers are subject to atmospheric aberration whilst FO cables are negligible.

Lightbeaming technology or optical communication is EXTREMELY limited by weather and other line of sight issues.

That being said optical works outside the atmosphere and from high-atmosphere to space. But within the atmosphere it has a very short range. On the order of hundreds of meters to ~8 kilometers depending on the atmospheric conditions.
Anonymous (ID: qg1uGFiQ) United States No.520197015 [Report]
>>520196311
>no cables
Such a thing *could* be built, but not now. And not for the reasons you think. We don't have that technology yet. It would require transmission of all data from all terminals/sources (there are other things besides cell phones) to a data center/transmitter. We aren't there yet. And physical limitations require frequent retransmission to prevent data corruption.

And, frankly, I don't want such a thing. All these radio- and microwaves permeating everything have done something to people. I've seen the longlong ago and people weren't as stupid as now.

Sure, but there's a big difference between linus techtip doing this between buildings in some port coquitlam industrial park and a large scale system that can reliably move all of the world's data. What kind of unshielded laser do you plan on using?
What do you do in the case of environmental factors that bend and warp the fields that the light is to move through?

What do you think lightening is? You know the phenomenon when clouds produce thunder and flashes of lights? It's when a lot of gooners are cooming and it requires a lot of data to stream all those X vids

Everyone knows that all of our data is stored in clouds. When it rains, this is actually just everyone downloading my the data. And when the rain gets into the earth and feeds the flowers and trees and animals, all of these contain our data as well and can transmit this data locally on earth. This synergistic effect of data in the clouds and all life on earth creates a giant cloud that encompasses all of existence and allows us to transmit data to any point in time.

The amount of people that think "the cloud" is a physical object is terrifying
There are so many fucking retards in the world
It's almost too much to handle sometimes, maybe even a lot of the time
