You should switch to security. I spend my days telling jeets that they fucked up and they need to fix it right. My whole infosec dept is white and mostly male.
I work for a F50 software company.
I've spent the last two years making jeets do things right or else. Some of the dev teams are so shit that they literally can't understand the concepts I'm requiring. If they can't do the work, they get fired eventually.
When I started, the product engineering department had control of the code scanners and would just mark anything as a false positive to make the reports clean.
>be me
>get report from jeets on product vulns
>100% clean
>smells sketchy
>run my own with different tool
>100's of vulns
>look at code
>using old libraries
>see rce from 2011
>wtf
They just didn't want to maintain the product so they ignored everything. My infosec team has a mandate to clean shit up. Half the jeets in the engineering department have been fired since I started. They fired the VP who was responsible for the jeetification a couple of months ago.
If you can do secure code work, you can make $$$$ telling jeets to fix their shit.I work with a couple of guys who just switched from dev to appsec. They're good to work with.
t. sr. staff security architect, will break $300k this year with bonuses.
