Buying big bits of furniture seems like an anachronism from a time when people would buy one house and live in it for 70 years until they died. I've moved three times in the past five years. but nobody who is an atheist should. atheists would be the first ones to tell you it's outside of religion: they don't deny it. EVERYTHING in their life is secular. could be giving to the poor, could be going on a killing spree. none of it is 'against' their (lack of a) religious code.

I have just moved back from Bristol to Brighton. 3 years at UWE over, they were the best 3 years of my life. Now I am home I am heartbroken, I just got back today and I have felt sick all day and keep crying. I was not finished with Bristol, my house, or housemates. I really struggle with change, cried loads when school finished, same with college. But university is 3 years of life not just something on the side, it was who I am. Now I don't know what I am going to do, and I am just so sad to not be living in my uni house anymore. Please can someone help, I need advice, how do I deal with this. I really don't know how I am going to deal with being home for good now. I genuinely have no idea how I am going to be. This city no longer feels like home, it is a holiday place where I come back to see family and celebrate holidays. Bristol feels like my home now, and I am now 100 miles away. I'm so heartbroken.

would rather someone whose whole job is about looking after the people in our society be doing it out of some religious belief, even if i don't hold those same beliefs. rather than someone who might do good, or evil, essentially at random.

I'm not 100% sure whether there are any gods or not. But I still call myself an atheist due to the fact that I lack a belief in God.

Yes because religious people are renowned for their morals aren't they. Like Catholic priests molesting children. Or extremist Jews in Israel who want to kill Palestinians and take land from Palestinians, because these extremists believe that all of the land of Palestine was given to Jews by God.
