The trick I found with losing weight is to get into the habit of eating unseasoned/plain food. Food becoming more tasty with sauces, so much salt and flavors is why we overeat.

If all your meals are plain, you'll genuinely stop eating when you're full, if it's tasty and sweet, you'll keep on gorging.

Cutting out sugar puts you 80% of the way there desu.
