I really can't understand the jealousy. They just make me feel awkward because I don't know how I should proceed. I just usually try to ignore it and move on. I guess I don't want my nose rubbed in my lack of romance in my life, but I just get past it.

D'unno, but I imagine not. I'm not normal in this regard. Even as a kid I hid that I was being hurt and abused because I didn't want to burden my mom all of the time. It's more in my nature to just endure and move on.

I was a very stubborn kid, so I likely wouldn't have changed and I am still stubborn as an adult. All of that stuff is ancient though, nothing is left for me to be helped on anyhow. All of the problems I have now are things only I can hope to fix.
>let yourself be upset and all that
I mean, I do get upset, but just not like other people do is all. It is normal that I'm upset at having to saw boards with a rusty, dull fucking pruning saw though.

Unlikely. Also I'm doing some modifications on some cheap chicken enclosure my mom opted to buy instead of just letting me build a tractor from scratch. She's a borderline hoarder so I can't find any of the batteries or chargers for the power tools I could be using and am stuck with an old pruning saw as the best thing I could use to cut old lumber she had. Need to get some more lumber though, probably. I'll know when the sun is up so I can finish all of that.

Yeah, currently just one chicken left. The rest died of old age or some predator that kept breaking in. One of the newer ones we got was impacted when she bought it too, so that one also died because the person who sold it was using wood chips as bedding. Also it's not that tall of a task, chicken tractors aren't that big. She won't help out though, she's recovering from surgery and even before that she just wants to lay down in bed all day. She's almost 70 so it's understandable.

As for why we have chickens, it wasn't her impulsive buying that got that -- it was my sister's. Raised all of the original ones from chicks and hand fed them too, they were quite comfortable around me.

ohhh, i thought you meant an actual tractor, for farming (of the non-chicken variety). that would be pretty easy to do.
>She's almost 70 so it's understandable.
that is understandable, especially the surgery stuff. is her recovery going well?

>it was my sister's
then she should be the one helping a bit, s.m.h.
>they were quite comfortable around me.

bonding with animals like that is nice. handfeeding is the best way to bond with animals like chickens (i think)

Yeah, when this one passes we'll get another 4 chicks and I'll raise them up. Gonna have to see if I can get a new rice flour beetle culture to give them lots of grubs for them to snack on.

Her recovery is going well, yeah. Also my sister has never really had to have any accountability when it comes to family. My mom doted on her because she has BPD and would always whine and complain and say that I was getting treated better. She can't really help anyway, she doesn't live here or around here.

Also they definitely warmed up to me quite a bit. They even enjoyed getting pet, the current chicken is one I didn't raise from scratch and she's warmed up a lot but she still is a bit of a hassle to catch unlike the ones I raised who wouldn't even move away if I came to pick them up.

Is it that different? I wouldn't say I'm sad, but I am pensive currently. She has gotten better though. She brought her baby down here for a month not too long ago and she was pretty pleasant actually. The baby was cute too and apparently likes me and my hair, but she was only like a month old when she got here and 2 months when she left so it's hard to say how much she actually enjoyed my presence.

I got fairly good at at least corralling them towards their enclosure before. Would you ever want any farm animals? I think I remember you mentioning you lived on a farm before, but I don't remember for sure. >Would you ever want any farm animals?
probably not. i think ive had enough with chasing chickens and sheep and stuff. theyre a huge pain lmao.
>you lived on a farm before
i did, ive lived on multiple, worked on one as well, and my school used to have chickens, so i have a bit of experience with sheep, alpacas, cows, horses, and chickens. sheep i have the most experience with. kinda hurt me herding them around cause a lot would get trampled on and die

I see, I see. I'm hard to keep sad, usually, anyhow. As far as I know she doesn't hurt her husband or anything and beyond liking my hair she would be less fussy if she heard my voice. She liked watching the bubbles in my aquarium too when I had to hold her. I'd just let her stare at 'em and if I tried to move to get her a different part of the aquarium to look at then she'd get all fussy until I moved back.

Chickens also make one hell of a mess too. I didn't realize sheep would be prone to trampling and killing each other though. I guess it makes sense, if they get all spooked. I do go outside plenty though, I have to walk my dog at least 3 times a day(although I prefer to walk him at night and be awake at night, less people outside that way). I do have another project, yeah. I'm gonna try to culture electric bacteria and do some experiments with them. Maybe even see if I can build an aquarium with animals purely living off of that electricity-based food web with no outside light(except when I open things up to look around and check on things). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_bacteria
Some electric bacteria form these massive(by bacterial standards) cables too. Pic related. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cable_bacteria

Do you have any future projects? Like cosplay stuff and what not?

>she would be less fussy if she heard my voice. She liked watching the bubbles in my aquarium too when I had to hold her
ahhh, thats all too cute... maybe she'll inherit some of her uncles traits and get into biology in the future as well. looks like its already starting since she took interest in your tank.
man i wish i had siblings so they could have kids for me to take care of like that. i miss having babies around so much

>I didn't realize sheep would be prone to trampling and killing each other though
when youre herding them through the gates and stuff to be sheared, the old and young often get trampled on. im guessing they trip or their legs give way and the other sheep just keep going, and its often hard to help them before they get trampled. it sucks. only 2 died tho in my time cause i was trying my best to get them through carefully.
>cable bacteria
pretty sure you sent me a video on them before, so i have a decent idea of it.
>no outside light(except when I open things up to look around and check on things)
so are you gonna keep them in the dark completely? until you open it at least. im thinking if they adapt to only being in the dark theyll die at the hint of light

>Do you have any future projects? Like cosplay stuff and what not?
i have a few cosplay projects planned, but im gonna get started after christmas, maybe around february cause i wanna enter into a cosplay competition.
thats basically it for now tho, i wanna do some writing eventually

It helps that I can distract myself with ideas B^). I actually was thinking about that before, that she might get really into biology. Hopefully I'll have cool things to pique her interest when she'll actually be able to remember things(4 iirc).

That's a pain, although I think I know the feeling. I kept feeling like shit when the same predator kept breaking in. I took a good deal of effort to put large stones around their enclosure to prevent them from digging in again, filled in spots and had it all set but it seems some rats were chewing the chicken wire to get at food and then they were just pushing through and ripping it open. I eventually got a handle on it though.

Yup, totally in the dark otherwise algae would grow and then they'd stop being so special. You can actually buy cave fish to keep as pets https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juyhyJVClKQ
Regular lights aren't an issue for them, actually. What is a problem is UV light, so I just gotta keep them away from the sun once all of their pigments are gone. There's also a kind of cave where all of the animals in there live off of bacterial mats that feed off of hydrogen sulfide and methane that comes up from the water. Pic related is a smattering of them. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Movile_Cave
They've been in there for millions of years.

I was gonna ask you about writing next, actually. Got some ideas for all of that recently?

>Hopefully I'll have cool things to pique her interest when she'll actually be able to remember things
you already have cool stuff, like your little snails in your tank that youve been torturing, and you have a fuckload of knowledge on everything biology that you can share with her (which is very impressive and cool)

i can imagine its ridiculously hard to keep predators out of chicken coups, theyre easy to break in to and chickens are ridiculously easy prey (which is funny considering how impossible it can be for humans to get them

>Regular lights aren't an issue for them
oh ok. im kinda surprised by that. is there really just nothing in regular light thatd cause any issues?
>They've been in there for millions of years.
reading the hazards list makes me think those scientists will step in there and die immediately, tho they clearly havent

>Got some ideas for all of that recently?
i have had an idea, but i dont think its a good thing to bring into reality after thinking hard on it, so im back to the board.
also i forgot to respond to this last reply
>although I prefer to walk him at night and be awake at night, less people outside that way
so thats why youre up ridiculously late most nights?
also, thats actually really often. its a good thing tho. getting fresh air and exercise

The next torture breeding project is gonna be super salty scuds and snails too. Thank you, also. Kids care a lot more about visual stuff though. Although some African dwarf frogs may also work to pique her interest instead of the crazier ideas I've had. I loved those little things when I was a kid.

Also those chickens were no lightweights, we found a dead rat in their coop once. Also yeah, it'd just be UV light and anything more intense than that. UV light can and will damage DNA, same with x-rays and gamma rays, but UV is where that really starts on the spectrum. We need melanin to protect us from that, largely. It's why darker skinned peoples don't really get sunburns compared to whites and asians.
>reading the hazards list makes me think those scientists will step in there and die immediately, tho they clearly havent
They've got their respirators and suits on B^). That cave was like that when the first animals went in there though and they managed to survive, although it was all invertebrates who can get away with needing much less food and oxygen than us.

Also are you comfortable with talking about the idea? I'm sure it's not that bad. Also yup, that's why I'm up at these hours(plus it's quieter at night). I do get a good deal of exercise inside too, since I pace around for hours and listen to music too. Do you like dogs though?

yeah, and they can adapt pretty easily, humans couldnt easily adapt to an environment like that, if at all before dying.
but yeah, makes sense theyd have special suits for it lmao.

>are you comfortable with talking about the idea?
yeah i can talk about it, it was just based off a dream i had about some government bill forcing people into huge dating programs to find their perfect match to lower crime rates and erase inceldom. in the dream i was the only person who couldnt be matched anywhere, so i was forced into the program where they put 4 similar people in houses to bond, but i wasnt similar, just a leftover. so itd be based on that, with someone who cant get a match, destined to be alone in the world.
>Also yup, that's why I'm up at these hours(plus it's quieter at night)
im not sure why ive never asked cause ive always been curious about your sleeping hours. it is quieter at night, very peaceful.

I'll probably still be around and I'd have no problem sharing it. It'll be a good while before it gets even as salty as seawater though. Some David Attenborough documentaries are also a great idea too. Also yeah, blacks are less vulnerable to skin cancer but they're more vulnerable to diabetes iirc and also have less copies of the amylase gene(what makes bread turn sweet in your mouth, it breaks starches down into sugars). That's from their shorter time having agriculture from what I understand.

Humans do evolve quicker than you might expect, especially since agriculture has hit we've gone through a ton of changes. From what I remember too, the people that Europeans and many MENA peoples descend from that first started farming ended up quite pale shortly after they became farmers. The people groups that I remember with the most amount of their ancestry being made up of them(The ENF https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Early_European_Farmers) are the Basque and Corsicans. Dark hair, white and with dark eyes. The ancestral population that most European languages descend from were also similar in those features but they had the genes for lighter eyes and hair colors with them and their descendants tend to be blonde at a very high rate. Iirc Norwegians are the population with the most Yamnaya ancestry.

I remember this idea also! You could definitely rework that idea into a drama though. Just move it from government mandated to some kind of rich person's game. I also figured you never asked because you knew I was a NEET and all.

My dog rarely barks, but he does jump around a lot. He's very happy, all of the time. Wants to meet people constantly and gets too excited. When he's at home though he's much more behaved, but still wants to jump around. My dog's a black lab though and I don't know if I have a favorite. Do you own any cats? I'm sadly really allergic to them.

most neets ive met stay up in the day so i figured you likely had a specific reason for being up so late

>My dog's a black lab
thats makes sense for the excitement, labs always get super excited, theyre so adorable tho. and a black one too... nice. theyre extra cute, rarely ever see one of those
>Do you own any cats?
i have one! a cute (overweight) calico. she hates other cats, otherwise id get more
>I'm sadly really allergic to them.
aww :(
thatd suck so much. what about hypo-allergenic cats tho, do you have any experience with them to know how your allergies will react?

I'll be happy to share them B^). Also, don't worry, tons of black people won't let that hold them down. Have you not heard about them just eating corn starch? https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=eating+cornstarch
I'm noticing something about these search results...

There's still a lot of theories on why agriculture started, but grass seeds were used for cooking and eating long before it. The original grass seeds used though weren't nearly as starchy though and much more bitter and hard. There was actually a whole kingdom in the Americas that didn't use traditional farming too, right here in Florida. I don't know if you like history stuff, but here's a nice video on them if you'd like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yiz292ot1fY

The short of it is that they fished and hunted for almost all of their food, with the rest being gathered. They'd make storage ponds and such too to keep lots of fish alive for longer to eat later.
>but didn't that mean they spent more time in the sun, which typically makes people darker?
Nah, not compared to hunting and gathering. You only need to be out in the sun to do some farmwork and then you can go back inside. Hunter-gatherers spend almost all day outside hunting and often with less clothes on. Plus melanin hinders your ability to produce vitamin D yourself, but for a hunter-gatherer that's less of an issue since you'll get it from your diet. If you're mostly farming though then you miss out on that dietary intake.

Glad you like the idea too, you could even make it more high-stakes B^). For me my schedule drifts, but my preference is to stay up at night. My dog is also an endless source of joy and love, but a bottomless stomach too. I have to stop him from eating random garbage on walks with him. How old is your cat? Also I haven't had a hypo-allergenic cat or been near one, but they do have allergy shots to temporary reduce your allergies to certain sources. I'd want to go some of those if I ever got more money.

>I don't know if you like history stuff, but here's a nice video on them if you'd like
ill give it a watch, i like a bit of history stuff, and the topic is pretty interesting
>Nah, not compared to hunting and gathering
ah yeah, i forget about the hunter gatherer stuff, makes a lot more sense now lmao

>you could even make it more high-stakes B^)
way ahead of you, im already thinking of ideas. thought of a death game type thing but im thinking thats too overdone and not as fun.
>I have to stop him from eating random garbage on walks with him
normal dog behaviour... they love eating everything, like goats. speaking of that, did you know dogs and cats can get pica? my cat has it. doesnt stop eating cardboard, the fur lining on her cat tree, and fluff from her toys.
shes 8 now! very old. how old is your dog?
>but they do have allergy shots to temporary reduce your allergies to certain sources
you definitely should try it out, maybe those plus a hypoallergenic cat, youll have little issue having one around.
hypoallergenic cat breeds are some of the coolest too, i love oriental shorthairs, russian blues, and sphinx cats so much

If I remember correctly they have a really high rate of obesity in the US too. Hope you'll enjoy it too, the Calusa are neat in their own little ways too. From what I remember they had a reputation for being really tall(for the times at least) too.

I hope it'll turn out well, I'd be happy to hear any updates in the future. Also I didn't know they could get pica, but it makes sense. Hopefully she didn't eat any of your cardboard furniture. My dog is actually about the same age, still nice and active too. I was told he was supposed to calm down by this age, but he really hasn't B^). Sphinx cats are pretty involved as far as their care goes, isn't it? Never even saw an oriental shorthair before but they've got such a nice and goofy look to them. I thought they were gonna be more like a manul or something like that -- a hybrid of an oriental cat species. Have you ever owned any of the hypoallergenic cats before?

how tiny were people back in the 1500s if 5'6-5'8 was really tall?

>I'd be happy to hear any updates in the future
ill make sure to keep you updated :D
>I was told he was supposed to calm down by this age
labs stay active for as long as they can, theyre suoer energetic. its cute tho. theyre adorable.
>Sphinx cats are pretty involved as far as their care goes, isn't it?
yeah, you have to wash them and put lotion on them often, and i theyre prone to many issues. theyre also super social and need other cats around (i think) which has its own issues (if they fight and get scratched it can be an issue)
oriental shorthairs are a good inbetween. theyre really vocal and they kinda "honk" instead of regular meowing. theyre the cutest imo
>Have you ever owned any of the hypoallergenic cats before?
nope, i wish. those cats breeds are insanely expensive. one day tho.

It depends on the time period, but generally peasants in Europe before more modern times were a good bit shorter than us now. I can imagine their height might have been a bit of a... tall tale B^) too.

Also I definitely have no real complaints about him still being so energetic. He does really help lighten up the day. I imagine if sphinxs get scratched it's an issue with how long it'd take to heal. Humans are like that too, actually. From what I remember hair follicles contain a good deal of stem cells for your skin and since our skin isn't as dense as most other mammals we actually take a good deal longer to heal from cuts.
>they kinda "honk"
That is cute, the last cat I had mostly just trilled. He also really loved feet, my feet in particular. He'd glob onto my foot and full body cuddle it, purr and rub her face on it. Then he'd fucking bite me B'^). He was a goofy cat, loved to just stare outside of the window and he'd hallucinate things being there since you'd see his head dart to look at a spot where nothing was there. He had to be in the bathroom with me when I showered too, he didn't want to be alone.

If I get a cat again, it'll definitely be an oriental shorthair though.

wait so, you had a cat? were your allegeries not as bad back then? that is super cute tho. was he an orange or black cat? they specifically act super silly and all the cat behaviour youre describing is super silly

I'm quite punny, aren't I? B^). Also I did have a few cats in the past, my allergies still sucked but I was good about washing my hands after petting them and avoiding getting their hair on my clothes and what not. He was a white cat with some orange and brown bits on him, a bit of mutt(although I guess that'd make him a calico too) from what I understand since he was from a shelter. I've also heard the stereotype of orange cats being silly B^). He never got in the shower with me, but he did like to play with water. My mom didn't want to have him around anymore though so he went to a new home. Apparently he got really fat and happy over there.

What's your cat like though?

ah ok, so theyre not too bad, thats good.
>a bit of mutt
wow, rude lmao. yeah, thatd make him a calico. brown in a calico is pretty rare, brown cats in general are pretty rare. they look so cool tho
>Apparently he got really fat and happy over there.
well, thats good, but its sad your mom didnt want him anymore. he sounds like he liked you a lot :(

>What's your cat like though?
big and fat. loves to bite and scratch me. she does this weird thing where she licks my arm and if i try to move she'll playfully bite me (but if i keep trying, she'll maul me). shes more of a lone wolf sorta cat most of the time. also she snores. and its so fucking cute

Well, it does get pretty bad if a cat hair goes up my nose or something. My nose will be blocked up until I can blow it out. I'm allergic to dogs too, just less than I am to cats, so I have the same problem if I pet the dogs too long since they shed like crazy. A hair inevitably makes it up my nose :(. Also neat, I guess the little guy was more special than he knew.

Wouldn't be the first time my mom wanted to give away a cat like that B^). My mom has a story of me when I was still a baby, about how I found some stray kitten and brought it home with me and that I'd take him everywhere with me and he'd follow me around all of the time. She was not a fan of said cat though and when a couple of ladies on horseback came up to talk about how cute little baby me was whilst playing with said cat, she offered them a cat B^).

Your cat sounds like she'd probably go crazy for some meat, although I don't know how far she could run off with it if she is all tubby. Isn't a cat licking someone a grooming behavior? I guess she sees you as family, or thinks you taste great.
