It needs a job system, tbc, more crpg elements
turn based can be fun but devs dont know how to pull it off anymore also a complex elemental system like pokemon is always welcome it adds depth to the strats and a super hardmode you an chose from the start would be great too.
Overall though stories have only got better. They peaked in 6-7. 10 was great too. Old school FF stories are just: kill le evil demon lord. And thats it.

kino I had the superior idea though, it shouldnt be grid just lines like in Baldurs Gay 3 but without the gay shit.
The story would be christian kino, the protagonist is religious but internally he is a "demon" so its a tragic byronic hero that has to defy his "nature" to be a good person, he has party members a love interest and some edgy darwinist atheist alien companion at the late game that encourages him to kill. The story should contrast some analogue for Christian Morality with Darwinist Nitzchesean Atheism & also they are fighting some analogy for Muslims some death cult of some kind.
