I liked the part in Die Hard where Gruber is holding Holly hostage, so John McClane just starts shooting anyway and kills both of them. Really emphasized how Gruber is the bad guy for using a human shield.

They can do any number of things, but one thing they can't do is move your limbs for you. Failing all else, you can just lie down and do nothing. They can threaten, they can plead, they can shame, they can promise you untold riches, but they can't make you get up and fight. You are of zero use if you simply refuse to move, and nobody in this world can make you move.
It's obviously better to stay free, but if you've already failed at that, you can continue to fight simply by doing nothing.
