Superman himself was very inconsistent emotionally. He saves those rig workers, he saves the soldier and even asks if he's okay, Lois spells out for the audience that Clark not saving people that he can save is not an option for him because of who he is, and he has an emotional breakdown when Zod is killed.

All well and good but then we have him tackle Zod into Smallville. This isn't a bad idea on the surface, Superman being totally reckless as he's new to this, but, ultimately, he is responsible for endangering lives by bringing Zod into to the town. Remorse? Guilt? ZERO. He has zero sense that he is accountable that he has to wrestle with, and later after seeing what the Kryptonians did to Metropolis he has a nonreaction and kisses Lois and they make a joke, vs him being horrified and angry, anger he can barely contain when he confronts Zod, the architect of all this death. Instead he gives Zod this really weird look (pic rel) the entire time the madman is monologuing and obviously about to flip out. Imagine how good it would have been seeing Clark containing his obvious rage in an attempt to reason Zod and spell out Krypton will live again but through his way, not Zod's.

NTA but I never bitched over this scene over Superman failing to save anybody in that room, I bitch over how Cavill was directed to act. He seems annoyed rather than horrified. Pic rel is the look he gave the mass murderer maniac as they were standing in the ruins of Metropolis - as said maniac was breaking down and clearly about to flip the fuck out and start a fight.

There was many baffling choices
>Superman is responsible for Smallville being a warzone. His recklessness endangered lives and he never has an iota of guilt he was to wrestle with over this
>this whole scene you pictured. His total nonreaction and then giving Zod the look in pic rel rather than anything approaching rage
>so much controversy in MoS over the neck snap, so in BvS first thing we see Superman do? Seemingly murder a random African guy by tackling througn multiple brick walls at superseed. Even though they later say he survived HOW THE FUCK did they think it was a good idea to show him appear to kill a guy in his first appearance in the whole movie after the shitshow that was MoS's ending being so divisive? HOOOW?

This is the look btw. I find it hilarious. This is the look Cavill was directed to have when he's confronting the mass murderer in the ruins of a city centre he destroyed and who's clearly amping himself for another round?
