the old lore never made sense. There's way too much pokemon infrastructure for them to be a new, hyper invasive "species" and the lack of genuine horror as the wipe out the entirety of the previous animal ecosystem is something they would never be able to square. That said the "new" lore had the opportunity to be interesting but they generally saw the edges off at every turn and go with the dumbest, most infantile ideas at every turn.
