Azur is quite literally levitating in meditation, like the zen Crystalians in their crystal gardens. The primeval sorcerers are based on the Sokushinbutsu of Sekiro. Revered corpse sages. Or 'living Buddhas'. Someone placed the third-eye amulets over their heads, symbolizing their ascended status.

The enlightened sage in Hinduist/Buddhist belief is more like a tree, or a stone, than a man.

This is similar to the tutelary deities of the Hornsent (who also lump people into balls like the glintstone sorcerers), except Azur and Lusat are both seemingly alive, and are standing in their artwork, implying they can in-fact move. Azur is even given a personality description by Sellen.
