Final Fantasy has been a mismanaged mess since Sakaguchi left
>FFX-2 the first game that genuinely did not feel like it deserved the Final Fantasy branding, among my circle it felt like a "sell out" game
>FFXII gave the project to Matsuno who previously had only worked with small teams he micromanaged, ended up with a burn out and the final project has that half baked feeling to it
>FFXIII bizarre choices such as removing towns, shops and npc interactions, the end result being a game that ends up feeling exhausting. Make a 10-15 hour tutorial section for a game that has a battle system that only works with a full party. The result being people either dropping the game from boredom or a good amount of people never learning how to properly play the game. Genius work there Square-Enix
>FFXIV the entire game had to nuked and reworked enough said
>FFXV development started in 2006, genuinely looked promising. Don't know the full details but development hell, had to jump onboard the open world meme fad, end product half baked as fucked.
>FFXVI the first game in the series that seems to ashamed of the fact that it supposed to a Final Fantasy game, marketed as some kind of dark fantasy political thriller and does fuck all with it and reverts to standard fare jrpg shit. Drops rpg elements to the point where the game barely even qualifies as a a-rpg, would be improved with even the most basic bitch rpg elements such as elemental damage, status effects etc
The only reason Final Fantasy has remained relevant is the legendary status of the old games and the fact that Square-Enix has not really been challenged in the real of high production value RPGs. Most of the potential competitors either didn't have the budgets or dropped out such as KONAMI, CAPCOM etc.

The retards who vehemently defend FF and YoshiP don't even realise that people like me who love FF, that FF is my favourite series of all time, FF9 my favourite game of all time, we know how good this series can be and FF15, FF16 and FFXIV Dawntrail are not it.
They can do better because they did do better, in other words I hold them to this high standard otherwise you just end up accepting shit and the franchise goes to shit.
Stop defending shit games, the brand, the franchise deserves more and it deserves people who are passionate for the series to take over, not old tired men who make games based on engagement metrics, on inconvenience mechanics but on creativity and what is FUN!
