What youre mainly hearing is a very sanitized watered down version of it still. It gives the same vibes as when I saw my ex watching some history video on YT, made by some upbeat guy and to keep the attention of the YT algorithm when he talked about the British raping the native Aboriginal women of some island and taking them as sex slaves he kept the same upbeat tone and did not go into any real detail whatsoever.
You do not see true suffering in mainstream media because mainstream media is made to numb the masses into compliance, and if a story was too human then that would be a failure to numb the general public.
