Anyone else have this problem?

You’re interested in retro games because they are more pleasant and warm/cozy by association and the history of gaming is fascinating. But when it comes to actually playing retro games, with the exception of a handful of undisputed greatest titles, you can’t play them for more than 10 minutes because most hasn't aged well. But you still like reading and hearing about it a lot

Why aren't I having fun?

why is it considered the best? the levels are like 30 seconds long and the bosses are a joke.

World 7 and 8 are way too hard if you don't come to them with a huge stockpile of lives and powerups.

I'm playing the All-Stars version, but the fact that Nintendo actually expected you to play for hours and hours just to reach these worlds, and then you have an absurdly difficult gauntlet and no way to save is ridiculous. Did people just leave their console on for days straight or something?

It just feels like a chore to play, and the level design feels so haphazard compared to the first Super Mario Bros

I thought the NSMB formula was bad until I played this shit. I now realize NSMB is just a bit bland, whereas this shit is actually excruciatingly boring almost to the point of tears.
