Every major corpo is doing this btw, we're still in that phase of the markets where big players try to maximize their shit and charge a lot just because they've got a loyal customerbase. Nintedo doing the same.
It happened multiple times in history, generally it leads to people abandoning to create a competition, for example disney with don bluth or katzemberg later on, the big corp in question start losing hard until they hire people who love their jobs, and pixar loved their jobs so much they literally saved that shithole from being fucked over by Shrek.
I know animation is not exactly the same as vidya but it's still entertainment, the only thing that makes sega lift their asses and restructure for the better is the competition, like every company.
And until there is no major alternative draining people from sonic, sega can only get worse and squeeze the fanbase like the rest of the industry does.
