I do like GPT Plus, but they will never get more than $20 from me. It’s helpful but not “another utility bill” helpful.

AI is a nothing burger with one exception: it provides governments a way to at least roughly parse the enormous amount of data they are constantly collecting. The government isn’t dumping money into these scammers misleading the market for shits and giggles. This is a key element of the surveillance state. They want something worse than those Chinese videos you see of people being tagged walking down the street, or being penalized for standing up from their desk at work. I’ve attended conferences where these ideas are being presented. It’s worse than whatever conspiracy theory you can come up with.
But besides that, yes obvious nothing burger. All it can really do is quickly pull code snippets from GitHub and SO for you. It’s definitely nice-to-have for boilerplate stuff but it is not possible for it to write a real world sophisticated program that it doesn’t already have the source code to. I suppose there are menial tasks like transcribing podcasts or sorting emails or whatever, but it isn’t clear how that actually adds value or is even a viable business model.
They do this shit every 15 years or so. Bubble pops, “AI” becomes toxic, and nobody uses the term until 2040’s. Searching online, you can find newspaper articles with the exact same kinds of promises dating back to the 80’s.

No amount of coping changes the fact that you are weak. You didn’t quit society. You failed out of it.
