I would argue people had been encouraged for "bad development" ever since everyone took the wrong lesson from Cave Story's chunky pixels. I understand what you're saying because I am not that hot on UT's look but it's because everything on it was developed by literally one dude and one artist. Sequel is anything but lazy, you can cherrypick hometown screenshots all you want but there is a lot more work put into the presentation, it looks so much better than UT.

You know, I have been thinking. You know how when Susie made the dark fountain and the colors and perspective changed? I am beginning to suspect the Roaring Knight™ hasn't actually made a single fountain. Every dark fountain that we have visited other than the one susie made share the same lens and coloration. If the roaring knight made it then it would follow that it would be different then the ones Kris has made. The only fountain we see ever get made by her spawns a titan and not an actual world.
