The Knight Twist is going to be that it IS Dess but somehow she has became part of the darkness, almost a mini titan. She might be sentient (or... maybe not she was drooling) but she's literally made of the darkness now.

>When outside of the dark world said bat shard becomes glass
>Darkness is associated with glass
>Shadow crystals are ALSO glass in the light world

>Likely something cause the darkness serves as a mirror into the dark world universe or whatever you want to call it.
