>How do we stop this unspoken killer of modern video games?
Screen writers on whether they watch capeshit movies or not.
If they do, you're going to get "millennial writing".
The catastrophic damage capeshit has done in influencing the newer writer generations cannot be understated, in everything from writing style (the infamous habit of burying everything under 1000 layers of irony rather than playing things with a straight face, a habit which really reeks of insecurity) to narrative devices, worst of fucking all the goddamn multiverse bullshit. Why the multiverse in particular? I'll tell you, for two reasons:
1) it gives license to recycle characters or stories ad nauseam, giving an in-universe justification for it, enabling the lowest creative effort
2) nothing matters in the story, because the character was never in any danger seeing how he's alive in the Vaginal Skullfuckosis universes #23042040274, #2378219371893719837 and #219378189371983719 anyway

For some reason saying Fallout 3 is good is seen as a contrarian opinion, despite the game having mass appeal, it certainly did at the time of its release, but even though it's forgotten by many and inexplicably reviled by others, none of that detracts from the objective quality of the game

Has it ever occurred to any of these devs that they should wrangle their boss' retardation? Can you be more spineless? Sit his fucking ass down and explain to him why things should be done a certain way. He's the money man, he (hopefully) knows about money, you're the game man, you (also hopefully) know about games, stay out of each other's business, mind your own area of competency.
I know what you're thinking: he'll fire me if I speak up, and to that I say, a big part in people getting fired over speaking up their minds is if they sperg out, remain cool and tell him what's what, be professional (ideally talk to him 1 on 1, if you confront anyone about stuff in front of everyone there's a lot of social pressure and things are guaranteed to go south due to no one wanting to be seen as losing face), and if he still fires you then he did you a favour, he kicked you out of a doomed endeavour possibly sparing you years of your life for you to spend elsewhere more fruitfully
